Dawne Eubanks has a history with
St. Petersburg City Theatre and Pirates of Penzance that stretches over 30 years. She first
appeared as Mabel in 1985 on the stage of St. Petersburg City Theatre (Little Theatre, at the time). Dawne said it was such a fantastic experience that when the theatre did the show again about 15 years ago, she sent one of her students to audition and her student played the role of Mabel!
Last year, Dawne reconnected with SPCT as musical director of Jesus Christ Superstar.
"I loved being back at this charming theatre. It felt so natural. When I got the call to musically direct Pirates this season, I jumped at the chance to be involved once again with the show, in yet a different role.", Dawne shared with us. "It has been a blast working with this wonderful production."
In addition to passing the Mabel torch to one of her students again for this season's show, Frederick is also played by a student of Dawne's! It's quite the "family" affair.
Dawne's "real" job is teaching voice at Eckerd College, and at Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School, which keeps her quite busy. Dawne has been married to her husband, Chuck for 34 years. They celebrated their FIRST anniversary in the lobby of SPCT during the run of Pirates with the cast! Together, they have two sons, Dallas (St. Pete) and Evan (NYC), who are both heavily involved in music and the arts.
