September 11, 2020

Dear friends,

click flyer to enlarge
Thank you to everyone who joined me on Tuesday for my Virtual Connections forum with Board of Education Members Pamela Boozer-Strother, Bryan Swann, and Joshua Thomas. If you missed it, you can watch the recording here.

Please plan to join me this coming Tuesday, September 15, from 12:00 pm until 12:45 pm for Virtual Connections with Prince George's County Board of Elections Administrator Aisha Alexander. Get all your questions about voting in the November General Election answered.

Register today and we'll send you the Zoom link and phone number. At the same link you can also register for my September 23 conversation with Prince George's County Acting Police Chief Hector Velez.

We only have 20 days to get everyone counted in the 2020 Census!
The 2020 Census is ending four weeks early in the middle of an already-challenging year. Our count in Prince George's County is currently BELOW where we were in 2010 and we all know we have more people than we did 10 years ago. A massive under count like this will affect our community for the next decade with fewer resources spread among more people.

Can you help? Join me this afternoon Friday, Sept. 11, at 3:00 pm for a 1-hour training then join me at an upcoming food distribution to get folks to fill out the census on the spot. Other than voting in the General Election, there's no better way to truly have an impact on the future of our community than getting your neighbors to fill out the census. Every person who completes the census brings more than $18,000 back to Prince George's County!

If you can't attend Friday's training, we're happy to send you the video or train you on the spot at one of the volunteer locations. We're provide you with everything you need including masks and gloves. Reply to this email with any questions.

Senior Meals -- Volunteer Drivers Needed

Special thanks to Del. Nicole Williams who delivered meals in July and Council Vice Chair Calvin Hawkins who assisted with distribution!
I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to distribute free meals to seniors again on September 16 and September 30 through a partnership
between my office and the Prince George's County Department of Family Services.

Reservations are now closed for September 16, though we will have a limited number of extra boxes available beginning at 9:30 am for seniors or individuals with disabilities who did not register in advance. You can still reserve a box of meals for Wednesday, September 30 here.

Are you able to help deliver meals to those unable to pick up? Please sign up here to volunteer between approximately 9:00 am and 11:00 am on September 16 or 30 to provide no contact delivery to 8-10 District 3 residents.

As always, feel free to reach out to a member of my District 3 team or me if we can help you in any way. I am sharing updates regularly on social media, especially my Facebook page.  #onlytogether
