April was eager to offer to help thank our BBQ sponsors when V.J. Anderson, Community Engagement Manager, came to visit the "Shark Tank"! April works on her independent living skills in the ocean animal themed building when she is not out in the community.

Their themed tree is on display in the background!

Center Spotlights

Lizzie, Garrett and April D. are making big steps by going out in the community and socializing with each other at a recent trip to a park. So proud of you! It is not easy to go outside of your comfort zone.

Derek is working on socializing with peers. He is starting to be around his peers more and even started being able to join a larger group. Here, Jason and Derek are visiting the pet therapy dog.

Jarrett, who has been with Loveland for awhile, recently transferred from one building to another on our Venice Campus. Staff have already started to see Jarrett communicating more verbally and with his communication device, and interacting more with his peers, things he was very reluctant to do before. One of the great things about Loveland's Venice campus is the fact that we have 3 distinct styles of program all on one campus, allowing us to adapt to fit the changing needs of the individuals that we serve over time. We are very proud of Jarrett's progress!

About Gulf Coast Community Foundation

Headquartered in Venice and with a second office in downtown Sarasota, Gulf Coast Community Foundation (Gulf Coast) has transformed the region through bold and proactive philanthropy for over 25 years. Serving the needs of the region as a partner in philanthropy and leader in community initiatives, Gulf Coast has surpassed granting $510 million in the areas of: health and human services, civic and economic development, education, arts and culture, and the environment. Gulf Coast was named one of the “Best Nonprofits To Work For” nationally by The NonProfit Times in 2010, 2011, 2017, 2020, 2021, and 2023.

Gulf Coast is grateful for our partnership with Loveland Center and we are honored to support the 15th Annual Heart of Loveland BBQ, made possible through the Josephine Kixmiller Charitable Fund, the Charles and Frances Concordia Health Care Endowment Fund, and the Community Health Endowment Fund. We support Loveland’s mission to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities live their lives to the fullest, which aligns with our vision of thriving communities with opportunities for all. We uplift Loveland as they pave the way for individuals with disabilities through life skills development programs.

Together with our donors, Gulf Coast transforms our region through bold and proactive philanthropy, and we do so through the values of integrity, collaboration, excellence, and leadership. We take innovative approaches and invest in scalable solutions that lead to regional transformation. We are honored to work with generous philanthropists and strong nonprofit partners like Loveland on philanthropic endeavors and important community initiatives.

With our headquarters in Venice, we have been able to serve the needs of our philanthropic family and region for over 27 years. Now, with a second location in downtown Sarasota (our Sarasota Philanthropy Center), we are able to serve our philanthropists in the area, inspire future generations of philanthropy, and provide a state-of-the-art, sustainable, collaborative, and free meeting space for our nonprofit partners.
