Welcome Home!
We are so excited to welcome everyone back into our space beginning on April 25th. Below find out how to register, what you can expect, and how you can help.
How to Register
We're using Eventbrite as our registration portal for in-person worship. If you have any challenges with signing up, please provide feedback to Steve Aust in the church office at steve@lakesidechurch.org or give us a call: 859-341-1963.
What You Can Expect
When you arrive...
  • Masks! Everyone aged three and older is required to mask up, so work on your 'smize' (smiling with your eyes :)
  • Friendly touch-free temperature checkers outside of the front door (we will require a temp below 100.4)
  • Directional signs will help with 'one way' walkways and social distancing
  • Greeters will sign you in so that we can keep track of our numbers and reservation system
  • Ushers will escort you to your seats. We will ask you to sit as household units.

During worship...
  • Pews will be reserved for 8:30 or 11 am services with plenty of room to social distancing between rows.
  • Music will be beautiful, but only our soloists and instrumentalists will make the sounds. No congregational singing just yet.
  • Passing of the Peace and Our Blessing to Each Other will not include handshakes or hand-holding, but we are excited to see your creativity come out as you come up with distanced ways to share the peace of Christ.
  • B.Y.O.Bibles! We've cleared out Hymnals, Bibles, and other touch points for the time being. We'll have all music printed out for you to be able to follow along in your head and heart. If you want to follow along to scripture readings, now's your chance to bring that doodle Bible without judgment.
  • Lights! Camera! Action! This will mostly be behind the scenes, but you might notice new mics sprinkled into the mix and at the 11 a.m. service you can expect to hear us address our online worshipers.

After worship...
  • You will be invited to exit one pew at a time via the sides of the sanctuary
  • You will head directly out the main or back doors where the pastors will safely greet worshipers outside
  • You can mingle safely outside
For Families with Children
  • Our nursery is not yet open, and we will be thinking of household units instead of individual children for a little longer. But...
  • There will be a Children's Moment. The children will stay in your pew with you and your pastors will do their best to come to them.
  • Kiddos can't handle a full service? No worries! Have them stick around through the Children's Moment (or whatever you can handle), then you can escort them to the Chapel, where we will be streaming the service and have activities set up for younger ones! We ask that children have at least one caretaker with them in the Chapel.
Notes from Healthy at Church
Being together again is a blessing, a relief, and a cause for celebration, but we must remember there is still a need for caution and prudence to protect others. Take all necessary steps to stay safe: wear masks, distance, and please get vaccinated. Here are some details:
  • We understand how excited you are to return to in-person worship, but please refrain from hugging or shaking hands - at least for the near-term. Give us a few more weeks for more vaccinations. And please don’t be offended if others aren’t ready to accept your happy hugs or close proximity. Remember: it’s not about you, it’s about the virus.
  • Outside is the place for conversation and catching up, not in the building.
  • As safety allows, more and more of the service will expand to include congregational singing and the return of the choirs. These first services are just the beginning - like the crocus that pops up before the daffodils.
  • Please be patient with us and with your fellow congregants as we begin this process, which is so much more than just opening sanctuary doors.

How You Can Help!
TECH TEAM! Are you intrigued by the behind-the-scenes audiovisual work that helps Lakeside's service look and sound their best? Would you like to help? If you're interested in joining the Lakeside Tech Team, contact Pete Teremi at pteremi@me.com.

GREETERS! Our ushers are the first line of welcome at our services, welcoming longtime congregants and first-time visitors and helping them feel at home. This will be especially vital because our ushers will need to help guide everyone through new protocols. Would you like to join Lakeside's usher team? Reach out to Rev. Louisa Umphres at louisa@lakesidechurch.org. (We plan to train this coming Sunday at 9:30 AM)
