We have been married for some 32 years. This will be Ruth's first grandchild. And, it's a boy!

Ruth is an excellent quilter, if I don't say so myself. Like all good quilters, the word "present" is immediately translated into "quilt" in her native language.

Well, to make a short story, long, the Baby Shower was announced for November 12, 2022. Like any good mother-in-law, Ruth asked Ann [the Mom-to-be], "What's the theme of the shower or nursery?"

Ann promptly answered "Books!". She then began to rattle off all the children's books known to man [or woman]. After all, Ann is an excellent speech therapist and is dealing with children's books all the time.

So, Ann said "Book" and Ruth heard "Quilt". The result is a bookshelf of children's books, shown below. It is complete with "Alphabet Blocks", their three cats, a piggy bank, the "family" truck and the Holy Bible!
Zoom in on the quilt. How many of the books have you read? Or, have been read to you.

The label is a joy to me! It has the same look as the top. It is shown below.
How Did She Come Up With The Design?

Ruth is very familiar with computers, to say the least! In our previous life-time she was VP of Development at Executive Insights, Inc. [our company]. So, she easily searched the web for pictures of children's books.

Sometimes the pictures were of the front and sometimes they were of the spine of the book. She sized the pictures and printed them on EQ Printables, which is the printable fabric that we use.

Next was a trip up to "Sweet Stitches Quilt Shop", in Chesterton, Indiana. There she found the wood-looking fabric.

Then came the craft and joyous part: cutting and piecing!

Guess where it was longarmed. Forever In Stitches, of course!

She also machine bound it. Usually she hand-stitches bindings. However, this binding was double and had to withstand a child and washing. So, machine binding was called for due to it's strength.

On Saturday, the 12th, it was presented to the Mom-to-be at the baby shower.

Well, now you know the rest of the story.
