The situation we’re in.

Well here we are. Right in the middle of this mess. I’m not even gonna say: “We’re all in this...” as it’s everywhere. Of course we are. With everything so abnormal, it sometimes feels strange to do anything normal. Like writing this newsletter. I don’t want to waste your time. I do want to provide you with information that you can use. I want you to know that you can call me or us any time on any subject. You’re the reason we crawl out of bed in the morning and come to work. Thank you all for being so understanding and supportive as this drama plays out. We’re here for you now and will be in the future.
What’s Cooper doing about it?

We sell a bunch of brands but we’ve been with Cooper the longest. I’m pleased to see them stepping up and being supportive of their dealers. As Q1 closed out, the Cooper folks that run the Medallion program lowered the quarterly engagement goals by 20%. They knew that dealers had a rough time in March and no one was putting up big numbers. They’re watching April now and have been talking about lowering the goals by 30% for the second quarter. So what else are they doing?

  • April Double Bucks on AT3, Enduramax, SRX, and CS5
  • Spring consumer rebate until April 20, $50 - CS5, $60 - SRX, $70 - AT3 lines
  • Rewards program counter spiff $5 on every Enduramax sold until May 15 and $4 on CS5. For all the details click HERE, and to register, click HERE.
Remember the Customer Experience?

Could there ever be a better time to have your Customer Experience all locked down? I don’t know about you, but the scariest place I go to these days is the dreaded Grocery Store. It gives me the willies just pulling into the lot. Even before the virus I was a card carrying member of Germaphobes Anonymous, but I must persevere and get Mom’s sustenance. As the weeks have gone by, I’ve been happy to see the progress that the stores have made. First it was the cart jockey presenting me with a sanitized cart! Then the Purell dispensers at the entrances and exits, followed by floor markings to keep the patrons distanced, plexiglass shields at checkout, less buttons and signing than before. It’s a steady stream of feel good measures that help lower my blood pressure. I hear now that stores are going to one way traffic in the aisles. A bridge too far?

I’m sure many of you are adopting measures to calm and invite your customers. Shop owners are offering pick up and delivery of autos, sanitization of interiors, cleansing of door handles and counter areas. That’s all good. Do you continue to roll out new measures as the weeks go on? With all the talk about ‘lockdowns’ and ‘stay at home’ I know many motorists must think that you are closed. My friends and neighbors ask me all the time if we’re open. Nobody must read the fine print that says how essential tire and auto shops are. Which means it’s... The Perfect Time to jump on your favorite social media platform and tell the world YES, WE ARE OPEN! And let the masses know how germ-proof you’ll try to make their visit. I’d set up a schedule and send a steady stream of notices and tips right now. The closer we get to summer, the more people will be thinking about making sure their car is ready to go. There is pent up demand out there right now and you’ll want your fair share.
