Dear
,
It's been said that the only constant is change. We prefer to look at it another way. Great things never came from comfort zones. And we're putting our hearts and our intentions into making more great things happen. Luckily, we have you. We're going to need your support more than ever. We have a whole lot of news to share. Here we go.

BITTERSWEET GOODBYES
After more than 8 years of heading the
Mission Impact Department, we say a bittersweet goodbye to
Jenni White. Jenni will continue to have an impact on Indy's homeless population as the founding Executive Director of Trinity House, a transitional housing program for LGBTQ+ youth. This is a much-needed service in our community, and we are so incredibly excited for and proud of Jenni for seizing this opportunity! She'll be there to welcome them all with her big heart, deep passion and Coburn Place-acquired maintenance skills.

Florida is about to get even sunnier, when
Jen Hund, our
Volunteer Coordinator, and her husband move to Key West for his new job in a couple of weeks! Jen was a constant ray of sunshine wrapped in a bundle of incredibly organized energy. We wish you all the best and hope you'll have the guest room ready soon.

NEW ROLES FOR FAMILIAR FACES
No one has been at Coburn Place longer than
Shawnta Beverly. She's just a few weeks shy of celebrating her 21st anniversary! We can't think of anyone we'd rather have as the new
Vice President of Mission Impact than Shawnta. Her dedication to survivors of interpersonal violence, her work ethic and her sense of fairness will serve us all so very well.
Shawnta's new right hand woman is
Monique Pompey,
Hospitality and Property Director. Monique has such a sweet and tender demeanor, but don't let that fool you. She will put her experience as a school administrator and parole officer to action keeping our building in tip top shape.
As we reorganized our staff, we realized that most of us wore too many hats of way too many styles. So we created a new Operations Department. And who better to lead us through this transition than
Lara Chandler?! Lara is our new
Vice President of Operations & Finance. She'll use her incredible skills for organizing and creating policies and procedures to take us to new heights of efficiency.
Joining Lara is
Sidney Hirsch as our new
Grants Program Manager. Sidney is a pro at public grants and will build upon her knowledge, attention to detail and love of spreadsheets to help keep us fully-funded.
Erin Wuertz, two-semester intern turned 1st shift front desk Mentor, will replace Jen as our new
Volunteer Coordinator. This will be such a smooth transition since Erin is already familiar with many of you. She and Jen have had a lot of time to train. We are so happy to see Erin put her passion for the mission into our volunteer program!
Lisa Benjamin, a 19-year Coburn Place veteran, will be our new
Data Analyst. No one has a better knowledge of our data than she does. She'll help us tell an even richer version of our story.

WELCOME, NEW FRIENDS
Our two newest employees are familiar faces to many.
Lauren Laski is our new
Vice President of Development and Mission Advancement. Lauren is a founding member of our young professionals group, Indigo. Lauren grew up in Northwest Indiana and moved to Indy to become a Butler Bulldog. She graduated with a degree in Arts Administration, Music. Her experience includes fundraising for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and most recently being a Senior Manager of Engagement at United Way of Central Indiana. In her free time, she enjoys singing in local theater and opera productions and spoiling her two cats.
Will Turpin-Doty joins us as our new
Office and Inventory Manager. Will was a long-time volunteer, serving on our events committee and in the children's services department. A big advocate for survivors, Will loves our mission. In fact one of his favorite quotes is, "How wonderful it is it that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world," from Anne Frank. He and his husband are the proud parents of an adorable 2-year-old son.

Coburn Place staff aren't the only ones to step
out of our comfort zones.
"Carole" is part of our community-based housing program. She has all of the same access to services that our on-site housing clients do, but she lives in an Indy apartment. Through grants and your generosity, we are able to offer Carole help with her rent and utilities.
At age 60, she just finished a program with our partners from Dress for Success.
The knowledge, skills and most importantly- self-confidence she gained are propelling her forward. She just enrolled in cosmetology school! She's certainly proof that it's never too late to change your life and head in a new direction.
Thanks for your support, , as we continue to find where the magic happens!
With gratitude,
