LAAC in Action
Happy Black History Month!

February is Black History Month.  This month LAAC invites you to learn more about African American attorneys including historical figures.

LAAC's invites us all to celebrate Dr. Pauli Murray's legacy and contributions as a member of the LGBTQI2S+ community, African American woman, Civil Rights and Women's Rights activist, and lawyer who helped shape Ruth Bader Ginsberg's legal strategies and written opinions. She was also the first female African American Episcopal priest. Learn more about Dr. Pauli Murray in  this article by National Public Radio, and read about her and other dynamic women's influence on RBG here . The National Trust for Historic Preservation named Murray's home a historic landmark; read more  here
Legal Aid Day in Sacramento:   February 27, 2019
Hope you're joining us!

A re you interested in speaking with legislators about the importance of legal aid?

LAAC's Day in Sacramento will build on the success of last year's event in making sure lawmakers in Sacramento hear the legal aid community's collective voice. LAAC is mobilizing over 40 volunteers from legal aid organizations across California to meet with legislators and explain the importance of the work you all do every day.

Date: February 27, 2019
Location: State Capitol in Sacramento

Just like last year, LAAC staff prepared absolutely everything volunteers need for an easy and effective day of communicating the value of legal aid.  If you aren't joining us tomorrow in Sacramento, it's never too late to talk to your legislators in the district! Contact us to get the tools you need.

Essential Mindfulness for Lawyers® Beginning Inquiry  is a 6-course program that offers a deep dive into classical mindfulness as it relates to the issues lawyers and other advocates face daily. Offered in a series of short videos, the program includes written materials and over a dozen, downloadable, guided meditations. The corporate price for Beginning Inquiry is $225, but through March 31st, 2019, legal aid attorneys and staff can take the program for just $55, through the LAAC website!
