MARCH 2022 E-NEWSLETTER

‘Brand authenticity’ has been a marketing trend and buzz phrase in recent years; however, we still see many nonprofits hesitate to be authentic with their donors. At best, silence and inauthenticity make your organization an afterthought for donors and volunteers. At worst, your donors will find other organizations doing similar work in which they begin to invest.

To prevent this from happening, Brandon Emerson and Lauren Hancock share specific ways to build a consistently authentic brand, and therefore foster authentic partnerships with donors, through 1:1 donor interactions and mass donor communications.
In 2022, confidence in the fundraising potential of planned giving is higher than membership gifts, events, foundation support, corporate giving, direct marketing, or government funding and grants. If planned giving did not make the top of the list for your development strategy this year, you may want to strongly reconsider your development plan.

Learn from planned giving experts Steve Orr and Piper Hardin about the major impact that a planned giving program can have on your 2022 fundraising success.
Donor vetting doesn't have a one-size-fits-all solution. How organizations assess and identify risky gifts will depend on their mission, visibility in the public eye, and the leadership team's priorities. But asking the right questions, and crafting a strategic plan for vetting, provide a solid base from which to start.

Check out Indiana Thompson's debut article, in which she offers several donor vetting best practices to minimize financial, legal, ethical, and reputational risks at your organization.

As nonprofits look back on 2021 and think about event plans this year, it's important to take stock of your successes, failures, and opportunities, and apply all the lessons you've learned to your next event.
