ORIENTATION STATION 1
June 24, 2022
We look forward to welcoming you to USC Gould this Fall 2022! To help you get ready to join us on our campus, our “Getting to Gould” e-bulletins will be providing you with important information, so be sure to look for them in your email inbox.

This week, we are asking you to take some important initial steps towards enrolling with us, and also sharing about the passport verification process (for our international students), along with important upcoming dates and events, including our first Orientation session on July 8.
Next Steps

  • Activate your USC email account, if you haven’t already
  • You will be able to activate this once you receive your USC Student ID and USC Net ID via email. USC NetID generation typically takes 4 weeks after the receipt of your commitment deposit.
  • Access your I-20 (international students only)
  • Your electronic I-20 will be delivered to your USC email account, so check your USC email regularly after activating it. Your I-20 will not be sent via postal mail, as it will only be sent via email.
  • We recommend arriving by August 1, 2022.
  • Understand your Passport Verification (PPV) process (international students only)
  • See separate section below for details
  • You must complete PPV prior to registering for your classes, and you can only complete PPV after entering the U.S.
  • Reach out to USC Housing as soon as possible, if interested in residing in campus housing during Fall 2022 term
  • To inquire about your options prior to submitting your online housing application, you may contact our USC Housing Representative, Michelle Canlas at mcanlas@usc.edu.
  • In an upcoming e-bulletin, we will share more info about off-campus housing in the Los Angeles area.

Note: If your enrollment plans for Fall 2022 have changed, please notify us immediately at gipadmissions@law.usc.edu so that we can update your file, including with respect to your I-20, if applicable.
Passport Verification

If you will be studying at USC on an F-1 or J-1 visa, please review this Passport Verification (PPV) information carefully. PPV is a process conducted by our Office of International Services (OIS) to verify a student’s immigration status.

All students who arrive in the U.S. for the first time in fall 2022 or transfer their SEVIS record from another U.S. institution (and have not left the U.S.) must complete PPV. If you are in the process of applying for your U.S. permanent residence, you are still required to complete PPV. U.S. citizens do not need to complete PPV.

Please note that if PPV is required for you, you must complete it upon arrival to the U.S. before you may register for fall classes. Once you have completed PPV, OIS will remove your PPV hold (STU60/STU50/OIS70) within 3 business days of the submission date so that you may register for classes.
