Heat Pumps, Mini-Splits, and Water Heaters - Oh My!

There’s no need to be afraid—heat pumps aren’t scary at all! In fact, they’re the wizards of heating and cooling, using electricity to move heat instead of generating it, which is safer and more efficient. In winter, they pull warmth from outside air (even when it’s cold) to heat your space, and in summer, they work like an air conditioner.

There are heat pumps for all kinds of commercial spaces, from retrofitted houses to traditional offices. Mini-splits are great for retrofits and allow room-by-room temperature control, even without ducts. Heat pump water heaters use similar technology to efficiently heat up water and are 2-3 times more efficient than traditional water heaters.

Boulder County businesses can get rebates for installing heat pump split systems, rooftop units with heat pumps, mini-splits, and heat pump water heaters. Extra funding is available for Equity Priority Buildings and small businesses. If you're an Xcel Energy or Efficiency Works customer, you may be eligible for additional incentives which can be combined with PACE rebates.

PACE is her e to share resources and connect you with rebates to make installation easier and more affordable. Contact a PACE advisor (info@pacepartners.com) or  visit the PACE website to learn more!

The Xcel Direct Install lighting replacement program is back! PACE advisors are ready to help small businesses with T12 and T8 lighting fixtures take advantage of this opportunity to replace old linear fluorescent tubes with new, energy-efficient LEDs at no cost.

Upgrading from fluorescent tube lighting to LEDs can shrink your energy bills, improve lighting quality, and save you maintenance costs and hassle. Plus, linear and compact fluorescent lamps have largely been banned from sale in the state of Colorado due to the Clean Lighting Act which took effect in January. Visit the PACE website to learn how we can help connect you with the Direct Install program and swap out your old tubes – for FREE!

Hazardous Materials Management Facility

Did you know Boulder County businesses have access to programs for safely disposing of materials that can’t go in the trash? These programs help protect our environment, our waterways, and the people who handle our waste and recycling.

The Hazardous Waste Disposal for Businesses program at the Hazardous Materials Management Facility (HMMF) accepts light bulbs, cleaners, pesticides, paint, auto fluids, batteries, and more. The Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials at Eco-Cycle takes electronics, plastics, Styrofoam, and packaging materials. Contact them for special bulk rates, easy payment options, hard-to-recycle hauling services, and free recycling training.
