“God will take care of the things we can’t control.”
David has called Indianapolis home since March 2012 when he moved here after graduating from Tennessee Tech University with a Bachelor’s in Management Information Systems. His first job in Indy was selling AT&T’s Uverse, internet and television services, door-to-door. Now, he works from home for Revint Solutions, a healthcare consulting firm, as an analyst that helps hospitals around the country optimize Medicare reimbursement.

David adopted his son RJ in June 2016. Also in 2016, they moved into a new home; David moved into a new position with another company; and David’s stepfather passed away. The first four months of 2016 were definitely a whirlwind!

The majority of David’s family still lives in Tennessee. One key exception is his grandmother who lives in Oklahoma. He grew up visiting her each summer and still stays in close contact with her.

David found Allisonville Christian Church (ACC) after talking with a pastor at Central Christian and wanting a church closer to home in the Castleton area. He attributes ACC’s Welcome Statement and attending Jim Powell’s Sunday School class in 2015 as key in his returning to his faith journey as part of a church community and his decision to join ACC. Since joining ACC, David has served in many ways including three years on the Diaconate, as a current  Chi-Rho sponsor, and acting in Daughters of Z. His participation in choir has had to take a back burner so he can participate in Boy Scouts with RJ.

When he has a chance to relax, he enjoys travel. He has visited Niagara Falls, New York City, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Playa del Carmen (Mexico). He has also taken cruises to the Bahamas and Cozumel. His favorite place so far is Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

After talking with David, it is evident that faith and family are key foundations to his life. When asked for a guiding principle, he shared a couple: “Everything happens for a reason.”; “Treat others the way you want to be treated.”

Finally, he beautifully summed up his approach to the uncertainty of our current times saying that he keeps anxiety at bay by “knowing God will take care of the things we can’t control.” He says, “I can’t control COVID. I take precautions and let God handle the rest.”
