Meet Herb & Sue Feltner!

Herb: “Treat others the same way you want them to treat you."
Luke 6:31

Sue: "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."
Philippians 4:13
Herb was born in a rural area of south eastern Kentucky to Felix and Ona Feltner. Herb is the eighth child of 10. When he was 17, the family moved to Austin, Indiana, a small town near Seymour. Herb was in the United States Air Force for four years and spent most of this time in England. He later moved to Akron, Ohio, where he studied electronics in a technical school. He began his career in Akron and ended up in Indianapolis, working primarily for Howard W. Sams Publishing. He ended his career as a technical book editor. Herb mentions that the name of the company changed many times, but he just kept editing their technical and computer publications.

Sue was born in Lawton, Michigan, to Clifford and Katherine Atwater and lived all of her younger years there. A mutual friend introduced Herb and Sue and they corresponded by letters for a while before their first meeting at a city park. They lived for a short while as a married couple in Austin but later moved to Indianapolis. Sue worked for many years doing medical secretarial work. After their boys were in school, Sue began working part time as a secretary for IPS with the Cafeteria Administrative Offices so she could be home when the boys were home. After the boys became older, she went to work full time in the IPS Math Science and Health Care magnets. Sue spent her final years working as secretary for Tabernacle Presbyterian Church where their family also worshiped for many years.

Herb and Sue have three sons: Tim (lives in Noblesville), Jeff (lives in Indy), and Chuck (lives in Texas). Herb and Sue were devoted parents and spent much time supporting their boys in numerous sports. They continue today with their granddaughter. Herb was both a Cub and Boy Scout leader, and Chuck reached the level of Eagle Scout. Sue considers it a blessing that she was able to be a stay-at- home mom when the boys were little. Sue began selling Avon so she would have some adult women to talk with.

Herb and Sue had a passion for traveling and spent approximately 20 years motoring all across the US in their beloved RV. They spent many winters in south Texas and have visited nearly every state. Near the year 2000, they began attending Allisonville Christian Church and found the people to be very welcoming and caring. They are proud to still be active members. They have served as elders, deacons, on various committees, enjoyed working in the kitchen, and Sue has worked with our women’s fellowship. They both were very involved in a non-denominational Bible Study which broadened their knowledge of the Bible. We are blessed by having Sue and Herb in our ACC family.
