Jim and I met in high school; we both went to Tech. He had to do Junior English over as a senior so we were in class together when I was a junior. We were to do a book report on Grant and Lee. I did two reports, and he picked one of the two. He got an A and I got a B.

On November 2, 1972, we went on our first date. He took me to the Indiana Roof theater downtown to watch “ Super Fly”. We were married four years later: June 12, 1976 - 44 years.

We were born and raised on the Indianapolis east side. We have three children and 10 grand kids.

We were at Centenary Christian Church the week they reopened after a fire, maybe for 25 years. I grew up in the Church of Christ and was baptized as a young adult. Jim was baptized on his 40th birthday by our Minister Cary Long.  After Jim was dunked, he came up and told Cary “I think you were trying to drown me”.

We enjoy our family. Every Sunday, one or more of our kids comes over with grand kids, and we have dinner. We swim in the summer and play board games in the winter. I crochet and Jim loves going to Colts ball games. We travel some. We love the Cubs and travel to watch them play. We have been to Arizona for Cubs spring training.

At Allisonville Christian Church, I sing in the choir and help with Coffee Café and Horizon House.
When it comes to favorite bible verses, there are too many to pick from. But a children’s song comes to mind: “The B.I.B.L.E that’s the book for me. You stand alone on the book of God. The B.I.B.L.E.”
