Carol’s Words of Wisdom:
“Any problem with a solution is not a big problem.”
Jim grew up in North Freedom, Wisconsin, on a farm that was homesteaded by his great grandparents. One of his chores as a boy was bringing the cows back from pasture each morning to be milked. He would run to the pasture each day, and that became the foundation for his running varsity cross- country in high school and for his later marathon experience.

Jim graduated from Stevens Point State University with a degree in Biology. He worked as a Food Technologist in Massachusetts for Cain Mayonnaise Company and later moved to Streator, Illinois, and then to Louisville, Kentucky,  where he lived for 13 years. He moved to Indianapolis in 1996.

Jim has 3 sons and 4 grandchildren. Andy and CJ live in Grand Prairies, Texas. Alex lives in Muncie, Indiana.

Carol grew up in Rochester and Buffalo, New York, and lived most of her adult years in Boston and Lubec, Maine, a small town on the coast where Maine meets Canada. She moved to Indianapolis in 1991. After living in cold climates for so long, she was happy to learn that Indy has flowers growing from March to November!

Carol graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in Community Service. She worked in several jobs before finding challenging work as a medical coder. Carol has a daughter, Lily, who lives in Chicago with her husband Charlie.

Carol and Jim met in 2004. Their first date was a January hike at Ft. Benjamin Harrison. They married in 2007 and have shared their love of travel and hiking. Favorite destinations have been the Canadian Rockies, Zion National Park, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.
