Dear Future Bruin Families,
This unique school year, I find myself reflecting on the summer that has passed and all its blessings--a new class of graduates with the determination to pursue their dreams, those in our community who lived our motto of Arise Today. Our community was empowered to pursue social justice with peaceful actions taken on behalf of the powerless, and I maintain my prayers for the continued health of our alumni, families and faculty.
At SPSV, our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We accomplish this, whether we are on campus or in distance learning. While we had every intention of bringing our students back on campus for in-person learning, we find ourselves still working with the diocese and county health officials to meet and exceed safety guidelines for everyone and plan for every new challenge. With faith and flexibility, our faculty prepared for all scenarios, distance learning, hybrid model, and in-person instruction, and now we see that preparation paying off in the innovative way our students and teachers are actively meeting across multiple technology platforms and building best practices for streamlining their experience across campus. The stories featured in this newsletter demonstrate that our students are thriving and our faculty are pushing the boundaries of virtual student experience for personal and academic growth.
2020 is our 150th year of Catholic Education in Solano County. Looking at these old pictures (yes, that is me on the photo:) I reflect on how education has changed since my parents graduated in the Class of 1959 and exponentially different than when my grandparents graduated in our school's Class of 1921. How you get to know our school this year must change too, but I can assure you that the love, dedication and college preparatory academics have not changed, merely the presentation format for the near future.
I'm here each day and I would love to take you on a tour of the campus. Schedule a tour at or call 707 644-4425 ext. 435. The majority of our teachers are here conducting their distance learning from campus so there is plenty to see. I will also host monthly “First Wednesday Admissions Meetings.” The meetings will feature a monthly topic and a presentation by members of the Bruin community who are integral to the topic, and a question and answer segment.
Next Wednesday, September 2, 2020, I will host a 30-minute Zoom Introductory meeting for any of you who would like a picture of our admissions season this year. Then on October 7th, the Inaugural "First Wednesday Admissions Meetings” will kick off at 7 pm. The Zoom meeting links are listed in the email below.
