Serving the Local Community For Over 65 Years

Dear Friends of Optimist,

Over 150 youth of Adams County participated in the Optimist Club of Gettysburg basketball program early this year. During the Fall of 2023, approximately 1,745 Adams County school age children benefited from our “Reading is Fundamental Program” in six elementary schools by receiving free books. The Optimist Club completely covers the cost of these two major programs. Participation is FREE.  

For over 65 years, local Optimist have raised funds through parking programs, feeds, golf tournaments and more. On November 9, 2003, our club is participating in the Adams County Community Foundation's (ACCF) Giving Spree.

These funds have enabled the Optimist Club of Gettysburg to support a total of 15 Adams County Youth programs with over 8,000 youth participating annually. The Giving Spree provides an opportunity for parents, caregivers, community members and local businesses to support and sustain our goal of “Bringing out the Best in Kids.” 

We are counting on you to mark charity #71 Optimist Club of Gettysburg on the Giving Spree form! The Optimist Club of Gettysburg is a 501-3C non-profit organization. Remember our supported programs are open to ALL children, NO child is turned away!

ACCF will provide a matching percentage to each donation, which means your generous dollars will go even further and help more children. The donation process is simple and can be done by following one of the options below. 

Please choose what works best for you. We are #71. Make sure to mark all correspondence accordingly.

A. Use the form on page 3 and mail a check or charge card number to: ACCF, 25 S 4th St, Gettysburg, PA 17325. Your donation needs to arrive at ACCF on or before November 9, 2023 to be counted in the Giving Spree. Checks must be dated and made payable to The ACCF to receive the matching Giving Spree donation.

B. Checks may be mailed to: The Optimist Club of Gettysburg, P.O. Box 3035, Gettysburg, PA 17325 prior to November 9, 2020. These checks must also made payable to the ACCF in order to qualify for matching funds.

C. Forms and Donations may be dropped-off at the Giving Spree Drive-Thru Event held at the Gettysburg Area Middle School parking lot November 9, 2023 between 3:00 and 7:00 pm.

D. To contribute online, go to the ACCF Giving Spree website on November 9, from 12:01 am to 11:59 pm and charge your contribution directly.

Forms and a booklet listing all participating organizations will be published in the Gettysburg Times in the month of October. No Giving Spree donations can be accepted without a completed form. The Optimist Club can accept checks, paypal donations, and venmo donations directly but be advised these donations will not count as part of the ACCF Giving Spree.
