  1. Boys Varsity Volleyball won the Grayslake North Tournament on Saturday going undefeated in matches and only dropping one set all day. Congrats to Coach Hotwagner and her team.

  3. Our Girls Water Polo co-op team finished 4th on Saturday beating Wheeling and losing to Barrington and Maine West. It was a very special day for the program as we honored a former player from DHS who passed away earlier this year. Shoutout to Sarah Gershon, Matt Bacinich and Net Matias for their tireless efforts to make this happen.
  4. HP Baseball had a program sweep on Saturday. Congrats to the Varsity, JV, Frosh/Soph and Freshman teams on their victories.
  5. Varsity Girls Softball defeated Niles West on Saturday. The team has a big CSL match-up with Maine South coming up on Tuesday.
  6. Boys Lacrosse split with Grant at Wolters Field. JV got a big win and Varsity lost a close one (7-4). Next up is Evanston on Tuesday.
  7. Congrats to the Girls Lacrosse Program. Both the JV and Varsity picked up wins on Saturday against Rolling Meadows. Solid defense, great goaltending and timely scoring helped lead both teams to victory.
  8. In Boys Track & Field, Dylan Dominguez took 8th place in the 2 mile at Distance Night at Palatine High School. Dylan ran 9:12.86 for the full 2 mile. Very impressive!

Community Opportunities

The 112 Education Foundation seeks a current Highland Park High School freshman (2028) or sophomore (2027) to serve a two-year term as the Junior Trustee. The 112 Education Foundation supports and funds enriching educational opportunities for North Shore School District 112 students. During our 30-year history, we have provided over 6300 grants allowing teachers to bring innovative experiences to their students, brought in scores of authors to partner with students, and enabled our students and their families to learn about and enjoy classical music through our partnership with Ravinia Festival.

Serving as a junior trustee is a terrific way to stay involved with and connected to the students in NSSD112, who will one day be HPHS Giants. Additionally, it is a great opportunity to be engaged in a foundation board's work and provide valuable input about programs and initiatives. This is a two-year term. Junior trustees will not have voting privileges. Please visit www.112foundation.org to learn more about the Foundation and its work.

Review the information below before applying. Your submission of this application indicates that you understand the time commitment involved and are willing to fulfill the requirements as a junior trustee if selected. The 112 Education Foundation may host interviews for finalist candidates. Note: this position is open to current freshmen and sophomores only. The position will run from August 2025 through May 2027.

Responsibilities include:

  1.  Serve as a non-voting member of the Board of Trustees
  2. Attend Foundation-related events, as appropriate
  3. Excellent communication skills
  4. Attend monthly Foundation board meetings (held at a D112 school, generally on the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm)
  5. Provide youth perspective during discussions
  6. Serve as liaison between the Foundation and HPHS community, to promote events and raise awareness of the Foundation’s work

To apply: CLICK HERE to complete the 2025 online application.

For questions or more information, please email Susan Kaden at 112educationfoundation@gmail.comApplications are due by May 5, 2025. The position begins in August 2025, with opportunities to participate over the summer.
