Student parking will be limited on Tuesday, November 26 for GrandGIANTs Day at HPHS! Whether you drive/park or get a ride/park, we encourage all students to begin arranging carpools or a ride to school as much as possible to allow our GrandGIANTs to park in our North Lot. Spaces will be reserved for them at the start of the day. Additional parking areas do exist and will be shared with the participating seniors.

FYI - We will be setting up keepsake pictures in the Library and lunch in the Staff Cafe for seniors and their guests.

HPHS is pleased to announce that the following students have been chosen to participate in this year's District 7 ILMEA (Illinois Music Education Association) music ensembles. Students from across District 7 go through a rigorous audition process to be part of these ensembles. It is a huge honor to audition, let alone be accepted into one of the ensembles to represent Highland Park High School. In addition, students will soon know whether they scored high enough to compete at the state level in Peoria, IL to perform at the IMEC (Illinois Music Education Conference) in January with students from across the state of Illinois.

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Basketball Team. Our girls went 4-1 at the Mundelein Tournament earning them the 1st place trophy. Saturday’s hard fought win versus the host school clinched the title for the Giants. Emily Calub and Kourtnie Halperin were named to the All-Tournament Team. The Giants also got excellent play from Maddie Reitmayer, Miami Martinez and Reese Crosby. What a fantastic start to the winter season for HP Athletics. Community Opportunities

The HP Varsity Hockey Team wins 3 in a row behind back-to-back ‘hat tricks’ from senior captain Dylan Lansky. The Giants get a monster win over league 1st place BG/HW capping their 3rd victory this week!

The Giants stayed hot Sunday night as AJ Caplan was strong in net facing a barrage of shots. Noah Engle scored in the first period and the game remained tied heading into the 3rd. Lansky then scored 3 goals in the 3rd period for the 4-1 W and 6th critical point of the week. The Giants are now tied for 3rd in the League!

The Giants started the streak off Wednesday night with a 6-1 victory over Barrington with goals by Dylan Lansky (2), Max Glazier, Owen Silverman, Charlie Cohen and Alex Alberts. AJC got the W making 23 saves.

Saturday night, the Giants kept it rolling with a 6-3 win over the D155 Predators. Graham Spencer made 27 stops to secure the victory behind goals from Alex Alberts, Casey Rategan, Brady Kimelman and a hat trick by Dylan Lansky!

The HP Hockey Team is peaking at the right time as they take on rival Deerfield Wednesday night (11/27) in their annual Thanksgiving Rivalry game!

Giants’ student spirit has been amazing and will need another strong effort on Wednesday. Pack the barn for your Giants. JV puck drop is at 6pm and Varsity at 7:30 at Glacier Ice Arena in Vernon Hills.

The proceeds from the raffle will go to Bandstand with the hopes of going towards the expenses for our upcoming tour of Austria so we would appreciate help from our community by participating in this raffle.

We are raffling 2 tickets to one of the following shows:

MORAINE TOWNSHIP HOLIDAY GIFT DRIVE 2024

Moraine Township is pleased to once again partner with Highland Park / Highwood school and the community to provide gifts to local children through our annual Holiday Gift Drive. We are offering the program to all of our income-qualified clients, including children and their families, seniors, and single adults using Township services.

Sponsoring Children

We will once again be offering a “hybrid” approach to sponsors for our Township children this season: sponsors can choose to shop for gifts based on a child’s wish list and clothing size for Pre-K to 5th grade, or purchase a Target gift card for children 6 to 12th grade.

Note: we are asking sponsors to spend $75 for the gift, or $75 for a Target gift card per child.

  • PreK to Grade 5: GIFTS PURCHASED FOR YOUNGER CHILDREN SHOULD BE UNWRAPPED and delivered in a festive gift bag with loose tissue paper.
  • Students Grade 6-12: the local Target store is the most convenient for our residents, and unlike Amazon gift certificates, does not require internet access. We are asking that gift cards be delivered in a festive gift bag with holiday candy.

As an alternative, sponsors of older children can make a monetary contribution to Moraine Township with a personal check or credit card donation on our website, and we will purchase the gift card on your behalf. Use the drop-down menu to select “holiday gift drive”.

Families and Seniors

We will be providing gifts to families, single adults, and seniors, including snacks and games. If you want to spend a different amount, or order directly from Amazon, this opportunity may interest you. When we send sponsorship assignments, we will include a link to our Amazon Wish List. You do not need to commit to the amount you want to spend, just indicate your interest.

Use this QR Code to sponsor one or more children, or a single adult(s) or senior(s), and select “holiday gift drive” from the drop-down menu.

In addition to your gift, the Township will also provide families with grocery gift cards to shop for their family’s special holiday food.
