You're Invited!!! Tomorrow (Tuesday) evening's Halloween Band Concert at 6:30pm in the HPHS auditorium. Come enjoy a fun family night, where kids can wear their costumes to the concert! We have a costume parade during the concert and trick-or-treating for them in the band hallway after. The concert is 1-hour long, and is very interactive and fun.

Every year HPHS remembers the tragic events of the Holocaust and other Genocides world wide. Please e-mail Mrs. Meyer if you are interested in being on the Holocaust Remembrance Committee and help us plan our district wide event on April 18th. Meetings will be monthly in the Library. Our first meeting will be Thursday, October 26th at 8am in the Library.


Delta-The Anti-Drug & Alcohol Club would like to welcome all students to participate in our Annual Survey, Lunch time Trivia Prevention questions, and Highwood Trick or Treat at the 1st Bank of Highwood. We will have Outshine bars on Thursday during lunch period after survey completion and fun squishes if you answer correctly during the Plinko Trivia Prevention.

Highland Park High School will be hosting the CSL North Conference Swim Meet on the morning of 10/28. Come out to watch our Girls Swim Team compete against the best in the Central Suburban League North Division.


This Thursday, October 26th our Athletic Department will be holding Athletics Registration/Information Night. It will be at 6:30pm in the HPHS student cafeteria. This event is geared toward families who are new to the registration process and have students interested in trying out for winter and/or spring sports. That same night, we also have former college coach Todd Scheuerman coming at 7:30pm to speak with families about the college recruiting process. All are welcome! 


The Boys Volleyball Program will be holding a pre-season meeting on Thursday, November 2nd at 8:00am in C220. This meeting will be for all players interested in trying out for the program in March - no prior playing experience is needed. We will go over open gym information, tryout information and answer any questions you may have prior to our pre-season open gyms.

ALL GIRLS interested in playing basketball this year, please attend an informational meeting on Tuesday October 24th at 8:15am in the GIANT GYM FOYER.

Tryouts will begin on Monday October 30th. Please register on the athletics website.


Girls Gymnastics Pre-Season Meeting in the Giant Conference Room on Thursday, October 26th from 3:10pm - 3:30pm


Boys' Basketball: There will be an informational meeting for anyone (all levels) planning on trying out for Boys' Basketball on Thursday, 11/2 at 7:45 A.M. in the Giant Gym. Anyone interested in trying out should attend the meeting to gather information and the schedule of tryouts. Tryouts begin on Monday 11/6. Contact Mr. Deutsch or Dean McCord for questions.

Our Football Team qualified for the postseason for the first time since 2017. Congratulations to all the players and coaches on their 49-34 victory over Vernon Hills on Friday. The team finished the regular season 6-3 and will play Mather High School on the road in the 1st round of the Class 6A IHSA playoffs this weekend. We will spread the word once the date, time and location of that information has been finalized


Our Girls Cross Country Team finished 5th at the Loyola Regional and will move on to the IHSA Sectional Meet at Busse Woods on Saturday, October 28th. Congratulations to the entire team.


Our Boys Cross Country Team also advanced to next week’s Sectional Meet. The Boys finished 2nd at the Regional and were led by Nate Wehner and Brian Hatoum who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Go Giants!

Counseling & Postsecondary Counseling

There will be a COLLEGE APPLICATION WORKSHOP for seniors on Wednesday, October 25 from 7:30am - 8:45am in the Counseling Resource Center. This is an excellent opportunity for students to receive assistance with applications and essays from counselors and college counselors. There is no formal programming at this workshop. No RSVP necessary and students can stay for as little or as long as they'd like.

Juniors and Parents/Guardians:

The Counseling Department invites you to attend the Program: Kick-off to Postsecondary Planning on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 6:30 pm - 8:00pm in the HPHS Auditorium. This program is mandatory for all 2-year and 4-year college-bound juniors. An email with more details will be sent closer to the event.

Community Opportunities 

Giants Hockey defeated Deerfield Saturday evening 4 to 3. The Warriors came out strong in the first period. The Giants were down 1 heading into the second. Jake Perlen was the first to score, assisted by Dylan Lansky and Ben Lichtenfeld. Hudson Fisher scored next, assisted by Trey Raposo and Alex Schneiderman. With only 12 seconds left in the 2nd period Dylan Lansky walked in a third goal. The Warriors did not go away without a fight and tied it up in the third. With only two minutes and six seconds remaining in the game, Alex Schneiderman scored the game winning goal with an assist from Casey Rategan while goalie AJ Caplan hung tough securing the win.
