The Giant Gym was transformed over the weekend as HPHS hosted the CSL Boys and Girls Wrestling Championships on Saturday. All twelve CSL schools participated. It was a historic day, as it was the first time the CSL held the Boys and Girls events on the same day at the same location. Our girls program had a great day with Riley Moore and Clara Ugaz both winning conference championships and Riley was voted the Outstanding Wrestler for the CSL North Division. A huge thank you to everyone who played a part in making Saturday a special day.

Congratulations to our December Athletes of the Month

Counseling & Postsecondary Counseling

Dear Senior and Parent/Guardian,

Families planning on applying for financial aid should review the emails sent to both students and parents on 24-25 FAFSA information in December and early January.

If a student or family would like support in completing the FAFSA, we encourage you to attend the Highland Park High School FAFSA Completion Workshop on Wednesday, January 31 from 4-7:30 pm in the Library Classrooms at HPHS (enter through the H entrance). Please note that no new FAFSA forms will be started after 7:00 pm. Families are encouraged to attend with their students and to bring their own devices; we will have a limited number of Chromebooks available, if needed. There will be a financial aid expert from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission available to answer all FAFSA related questions.

New for the 24-25 FAFSA - Both the student and each parent will need an FSA ID

* Students and parents must each have a verified FSA ID to complete the FAFSA. Plan on setting up your FSA ID at https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch at least one week prior to completing the FAFSA and/or before attending HPHS' FAFSA completion workshop since it will take some time for the verification process.

Highland Park Hockey:

What a weekend for the HP Giants Hockey Team! After a tough battle against rival Deerfield that ended in a 2-2 tie Saturday night, the Giants rallied on Sunday to beat Glenbrook North (the #4 ranked team in the state) 4-2 with goals by Alex Schneiderman, Hudson Fisher and 2 goals by Dylan Lansky! AJ Caplan was sensational in net stopping 43 of 45 shots! This was the 3rd win against a top 15 ranked opponent this year! Keep up the great Giant spirit/support to help the team carry the momentum into the playoffs!.  Highland Park Poetry invites poets of all ages to submit poems that respond to one of three possible challenges. This year's unique challenges are:

  • Advice - Good or Bad
  • Mystery (honoring the 200th birthday of Wilkie Collins, author of The Moonstone and The Woman in White, considered the father of the modern detective novel) - poems do not have to focus on Collins or his work but address the theme.
  • Prime 53 - this is a new poetic form created by editors of Press 53. Poems may be written on any subject using this form.

It is free to submit one poem. This means everyone may participate. Please visit the website for submission guidelines, entry form, and instructions for writing Prime 53 poems.

The deadline is Monday, January 29, 2024.

If you are unfamiliar with Highland Park Poetry, please visit our website - www.HighlandParkPoetry.org or check out our Facebook page.

Many thanks & Happy New Year!
