Picture Day will be Wednesday, August 30th and Thursday, August 31st during PE Classes for Class of 2025, 2026, and 2027- Tech Campus students please check your emails regarding your time slot!


Don’t forget, Thursday, August 31st is Open House! Doors open at 6:00pm. Open House is a way for families to go through their student’s schedule, meet teachers, hear a little bit about the classroom experience, and learn more about all HPHS has going on for our students. HP Summer Beach Party- This Friday during your lunch period come hang out with us in the courtyard- Fun, snacks and fun vibes!

We are currently planning this event for Sept. 23rd from 3pm - 6pm. 

All sports teams and clubs are invited to participate! This is a great event to really show School Spirit within the community and to get everyone involved in this wonderful team building activity!

Do you like trivia? Do you dream of being on Jeopardy? Come join Scholastic Bowl! We are a flexible club that meets on most Wednesdays and has occasional meets against other schools. Our first practice is September 6th at 3:15 in room A304. There will be food :) We hope to see you there!

Athletics

It was an exciting week of competitions for HP Athletics.  See some of the highlights.

  • Girls Field Hockey earned their first win of the season against Homewood Flossmoor.
  • Kalin Patel shot 76 and Danny Klein pitched in with a 79 at the Lake County Golf Invite, helping our Boys Golf team to a 6th place finish.
  • Boys Soccer won back to back games to finish their preseason tournament.  Parker Feder had a hat trick on Friday night as the Giants defeated the Lakes Community HS.
  • Our Giants Football team went on the road and came home with a victory over Leyden 37-0.  It was a total team effort on both offense and defense.  We host DHS on Friday night at Wolters Field.
  • Boys Cross Country finished in 2nd place in a very tough field at Neuqua Valley on Saturday.  
  • Over the weekend, our HP Girls Tennis team finished in 3rd place in the always challenging New Trier Invite. 



Junior and Senior Student-Athletes and Marching Band students: If you are interested in utilizing a PE Exemption, please attend a mandatory PE Exemption Application meeting with Mr. Harris and Mrs. Hatz on Wednesday morning, August 30th in the Exhibition Gym at 8:15am. You must attend the meeting in order to receive an application. Please email or see Mrs. Hatz or Mr. Harris in the Athletic Office with any questions.


Are you interested in playing girls flag football this fall? If so, please attend an informational meeting on Wednesday 8/23 at 3:15pm in the Student Cafeteria. Season and registration information will be discussed at the meeting. For more information reach out to Coach Boilini at cboilini@dist113.org. We hope to see you there!


Fall Conditioning for athletes not in a fall sport will begin on Monday 9/11. There will be an informational meeting about Fall Conditioning for athletes not in a fall sport on Friday, September 8th before school at 7:45 A.M. in the indoor track. This is open to students who are currently not participating in a fall sport. Workouts will be approximately an hour each day after school in the indoor track. Students must register online on RSchool and have an up-to-date physical before participating. Contact Mr. Deutsch for questions.



Counseling & Postsecondary Counseling

Attention Seniors: Any seniors with questions related to college applications, college essays, transcript requests, etc. are encouraged to visit the CRC (A223) during their study halls/lunch periods. Please feel free to reach out to Mr. Becker, CRC Coordinator, with any questions: rbecker@dist113.org.


The first COLLEGE APPLICATION WORKSHOP for seniors will be held on Wednesday, August 30 from 7:30am-8:45am in the Counseling Resource Center. This is an excellent opportunity for students to receive assistance with application and essays from counselors and college counselors. There is no formal programming at this workshop. No RSVP necessary and students can stay for as little or as long as they'd like.


Attention Seniors: College visits in the CRC start next week and run through mid-November. Please visit the this link for the coming week's visits and details on how to register. Contact Mr. Becker, rbecker@dist113.org, with any questions.



Fundraising

Chess Team- have a sweet craving? HPHS Chess Team will have Nothing Bundt Cakes during lunch Periods on September 7th. You wont want to miss it!
