Tickets for this year's Fall Play, Radium Girls, are on sale! Radium Girls is based on the true story of female laborers who were poisoned and killed by their factory's radium-based paint. The female dial painters fight for their day in court, and audiences watch these young women battle not only with their greedy employers, but with their own family and friends, who fear that their campaign for justice will backfire. Join us for the Hispanic Heritage Month Pachanga to be held TUESDAY October 10th (next week) 5:30pm to 7:00pm in the student cafeteria. All HPHS students are invited! There will be dance (instruction), food, and fun! Sign up HERE!


The Mock Trial Team has eliminated traditional try-outs and will open its meetings to all students. If you are interested in learning about the law and how trials are conducted, come to the informational meeting on Friday, October 6 at 8 a.m. in room C101. Use this link for more information.


Join Philosophy Club on Wednesday, Oct. 4 for our third meeting of the year as we discuss the Food for Thought Question: How has philosophy changed over time?

We will meet in A320 from 3:15-4:30. All are welcome; come share your own philosophy or listen to others as we discuss the philosophy of philosophy! There will be food!

It was a packed house on Friday night for our Homecoming Football game versus Niles North. Our Varsity Giants came away with a 30-6 victory. Thanks to our HPTV students and staff for livestreaming the game and to our student section who brought great energy from start to finish.


Girls Flag Football hosted an event on Saturday at Wolters Field. The team beat Deerfield and lost in a close one to Maine South. It was great to see so many people come out to support.


Counseling & Postsecondary Counseling

There will be a COLLEGE APPLICATION WORKSHOP for seniors on Wednesday, October 11 from 3:00-4:30pm in the Counseling Resource Center. This is an excellent opportunity for students to receive assistance with applications and essays from counselors and college counselors. There is no formal programming at this workshop. No RSVP necessary and students can stay for as little or as long as they'd like.


On Tuesday, October 10th at 6:30 the Postsecondary Counseling Departments at Highland Park and Deerfield High Schools will host a virtual program on College Admissions Testing. Colleagues of ours from Compass Education Group will present information on admissions testing, the test-optional movements, trends in this area, etc. Please join us for an informative evening designed to give you the knowledge needed to make the right choice for your students when it comes to testing.

Community Opportunities 

Nuestro Centro in Highwood is looking for volunteers to work with students from Oak Terrace Elementary and Northwood Middle School after school in Homework Club. Please consider signing up to work and mentor our next generation. Next steps: Complete Volunteer Application and attend virtual volunteer orientation on Oct. 5 from 6-7:30pm. A link will be sent once volunteer application is completed.
