HEARTS OF HOPE: STAFF VALENTINE CHALLENGE

Countdown to the Valentine's Day holiday at Gibault Children's Services this year includes a new Valentine's tradition. Thanks to Mrs. Jackson for her creative idea, staff have been providing Hearts of Hope daily positive affirmation notes to each child that will lead up to Valentine's Day. This also includes pictures or drawings on hearts and tailoring messages to their unique personalities, making it a personalized and memorable experience. Through these acts of kindness, the children wake up each morning to a heart-shaped affirmation note taped to their bedroom door that has boosted their self-esteem and made an emotional connection. This sense of belonging has been a fantastic way

to start off the day on a positive note!

SWISH!

We had four children advance to the next round of the Knights of Columbus Hoop Shoot (free throw contest). This event provides an athletic outlet and encourages the values of sportsmanship and healthy competition for youth. Gibault is happy to be included in this opportunity!

ROUND TWO: KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HOOP SHOOT

RESULTS ARE IN!

The Free Throw Shooting Contest continued for the four qualifiers. We are excited to announce one of our children qualified for Regionals! Each child received a medal for their participation. A special thank you to the Knights of Columbus and Gibault Staff who helped with the event! Regionals will be held on February

8th at Our Lady of Greenwood Family

Life Center in Greenwood.

Good luck kiddo!

ON THE ROAD!

The Holy Cross Knights basketball team and fans went on the road to experience a competition against Resource Treatment Center in Indianapolis. The game allowed youth to experience team travel, structured competitiveness, and teamwork. The nail biter loss was a close one by a score of 36-44. Coaches are so proud of the team for their play and sportsmanship! The team will be back on the road February 12th with tipoff at 6:15pm for round two against Resource Treatment Center. A special thank you to Chances and Services for Youth for allowing the teams to utilize

their facility!

AROUND CAMPUS

We had our very own winter wonderland on campus. A special shout out to our amazing staff and maintenance guys, who worked tireless hours to keep sidewalks, parking lots, and roads cleared during a record-breaking snowfall. They ensured our grounds were kept safe and warm for children and staff!

CEO HAPPENINGS

CEO Michele Madley visited the State House in support of Foster Care Book Signing Day on January 20th. Mrs. Madley spoke to several legislators including Senator Goode, featured right, who is a prominent advocate

for children in the State of Indiana.

Recently, Mrs. Madley incorporated staff incentives by purchasing Girl Scout Cookies from children of our staff who are in troops in the community. Not only did this allow staff children to earn awards in their Girl Scout Troop, but it also supports Gibault staff that have gone above and beyond their daily routine ensuring our Gibault children receive the very best care.

The Terre Haute Campus recently replaced chairs, tables, and several games to update the family weekend visitation room. Mrs. Madley ensures that when families visit, they have games to play and a nice area to visit with their son or daughter. This experience replicates a loving home atmosphere for all to enjoy.

A survey team from Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International, including CARF Canada and CARF Europe, will be visiting Gibault Children's Services in March. This time will be used to evaluate how well we meet international standards for quality. As part of the survey, the surveyors will interview children who receive services,

their families, our staff, and others.

Some questions the survey team members might ask our children are:

  1. Do we provide a clean and safe setting?
  2. Are services received needed and wanted?
  3. Do you take part in planning your treatment?
  4. Are your services understood for success?

Gibault Children's Services takes pride in providing master's level therapist who conducts regular individual, family, and group therapy sessions to ensure our Stages of Change Model. This collaborative approach encourages our children to take a leadership role in their own treatment process. We look forward to meeting with CARF International

to model our standards.

If you want to learn more about CARF International, please let us know or visit their website at Home - CARF International.
