MARCH UPDATED 2026 NEWSLETTER

LUCK OF THE IRISH

Fish fry season, hosted by the Terre Haute Knights of Columbus, in Terre Haute, brought luck to the kiddos this year. The first event, at St. Joeseph University Parish kicked off the tone with a $100 tip for the Independent Living Program (ILP) youth! At this point, the youth proclaimed, "Business is booming!" and was ready to go on a vacation.

A very special shout out to our supportive Terre Haute Knights of Columbus for always allowing our ILP children to be a part of their annual Fish Fry Season. The yummy treats the youth baked and provided throughout the fish fry season allowed an experience of entrepreneurship, community engagement, utilization of their personal skills, teamwork, and self-regulation during the busy interactions.

The Fund Development and Marketing teams joined in on the fun too and witnessed youth revel in the experience along with watching their smiles and excitement. There is still time to join us for one more fish fry to purchase sweet treats for $2 on March 6th at St. Benedict Catholic Church, located in their Soup Kitchen at 128 S. 9th St., Terre Haute, and on March 13th at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, located in Terre Haute on 2405 S. 7th St. Who will be the next lucky person to enjoy a sweet treat?

Northwest Campus

Schererville Knights of Columbus Council #12177 also hosted a delicious fish fry. During the dinner, a free will of donations were collected to support the children of Gibault Children's Services. We love when the Knights think outside the box to provide the “extras” for our youth. Money raised will help fund special activities on our Northwest Campus.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL #565

A little love was sprinkled on our Terre Haute Campus by the Knights of Columbus Council #565, Evansville. They treated our youth to a cookout on Valentine's Day! The food was delicious, but more importantly, our kids were able to practice their social skills by visiting new people. It is wonderful watching our staff and children engaging with guests! You too can schedule a visit by contacting our Fund development Director, Melissa Reed, at 812, 298-3030.

POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS

After February's fourteen day countdown to the Valentine's Day holiday, we are happy to report our new tradition of Hearts of Hope daily positive affirmation notes to each child nightly was a light of encouragement. Not only did the tailored messages reach each child individually, but their personalized message also reached their fellow housemates by being displayed on the living unit wall, which created one big heart! This heartfelt memorable experience showcased how acts of kindness not only boost their own self-esteem but can simultaneously make an emotional impact on others.

VALENTIN'ES DAY FUN

Celebrating the Valentine's Day holiday was a big hit on campus this year! Our kiddos had an evening of karaoke, tasty treats, and lots of laughs! Some of the best dance moves topped

the evening off!

STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Each month, Gibault Children's Services randomly draws a staff member to be awarded a Kroc's Burcher Shop meat and cheese tray and a $100 reward for their service.

This month's winners are all smiles!

Also, during February, we welcomed a new hire class for our Terre Haute Campus. The team completed a

one-week training and hit the

ground running!

We appreciate the staff's dedication and representation serving our children and assisting in providing life

changing opportunities.

SILENT AUCTION

St. Theresa Little Flower Knights of Columbus Council #17043, South Bend, hosted their third annual Silent Auction and Polish Dinner. The proceeds will benefit local charities including the youth at Gibault Children's Services.

Authentic Polish dishes were served, along with live music, dancing, and the auction, which had 52 items to bid on. These Knights of Columbus are a stellar example of being in service to all! We are grateful for their champion efforts!

LET'S GO GIBAULT KNIGHTS!

What a game! The Holy Cross Basketball Team came out with a VICTORY over Resource Treatment Center to cap off the season. The Knights did not disappoint to provide a close win that made every

basket count!

The team not only had Gibault Children's Services staff and parent fans, but their Knight Mascot and Marketing Team kept the spirits high! Go Gibault Knights!

We are thankful for the opportunity to utilize the Chances and Services for Youth gym to make the game possible. Players from both teams fought hard for the win! Congratulations Holy Cross Knights for your focus and sportsmanship to pull out the win!

COMMUNITY VISITS AND PARTNERSHIPS

2026 Winter Olympics

Terre Haute native and 3-time Olympic bobsledder, Bryan Leturgez, stopped by the Terre Haute Campus to visit with Keith Madley, Director of Marketing and Community Relations, in celebration of the 2026 Winter Olympics. In partnership with Gibault Children's Services and the Wabash Valley Athletics Association (WBAA), Bryan donated his Coca-Cola limited edition pin set and official ring from the 1996 summer games held in Atlanta. That year, Bryan was a member of the International Olympic Committee. His items supported the Play it Forward event at the Terre Haute Convention Center to raise funds for the WBAA.

Several of our staff had the pleasure of hearing some exciting stories about the 1992, 1994, and 1998 Winter Olympics. We look forward to an additional visit that Bryan will be providing

to our children soon!

Campus Visit

Cassie Pruitt, from Firefly Children & Family Alliance, toured the Terre Haute Campus with her intern Taylor. This is one of many ways we share with the community about the programs and services Gibault Children's Services offer. It is our pleasure to welcome anyone to take advantage of this opportunity. Please contact Keith Madley, Director of Marketing and Community Relations, at 812-298-3126. See you soon!

GIBAULT 2025 WE CARE AWARDS

Indiana Knights of Columbus Councils and Assemblies receive recognition at the Indiana State Convention for their “per member” contribution to Gibault Children's Services. The total annual (January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025) donation of each Council and/or Assembly is divided by the number of active members as determined by the State Deputy records. This then gives a “per member” donation amount. The “per member” amount is used to place the Council and/or Assembly into one of five recognition categories. Congratulations to all councils and assemblies who worked diligently to support Gibault Children's Services youth and earned the list recognition!

The event will be held on April 11, 2026, on the Terre Haute campus. Collaboration for the event also includes the need of the community, friends, and staff to fund this effort. Money is needed for t-shirts, games, prizes, balloons, banners, and sweet treats. If you would like to donate, please click here Donate to Gibault | Support Youth & Family Services. Please include ABLE in the comment section to ensure your funds are delegated to the correct project. The children in the ABLE unit appreciates the donations to help make this

event successful!
