The Gilchrist Center is sad to announce the departures of Program Managers Anna DeNicolo and Yunie Hong.
Anna DeNicolo managed the Center’s English (ESOL) classes and was responsible for the Wheaton site. For 11 years, Anna led volunteer teachers and built a very strong adult English language adult literacy program that serves hundreds of people every year and is increasingly popular. At the Wheaton site, Anna developed and nurtured partnerships with local providers, such as the Montgomery County Bar Foundation Pro Bono program and Montgomery College, among others, increasing access to much needed services for area residents. Anna will leave her position on October 5, 2023.
Yunie Hong joined the Gilchrist team in 2018 and was responsible for managing its Upcounty site. During the pandemic, Yunie developed materials and trained staff to expand the Center's Information and Referral service, now a staple of the Gilchrist Center’s operations. She also was instrumental in redeveloping the Gilchrist Center's website, making it an invaluable tool for simple access to community resources. Yunie created multiple partnerships at the Gaithersburg site, a thriving hub for community resources.
Both Anna and Yunie were integral to the Gilchrist Center’s management team. They carried programs through the pandemic and beyond, and went above and beyond in very aspect of the Gilchrist Center’s operations, which left an impact on the lives of thousands of Montgomery County immigrants. On behalf of the whole team, we thank them for their absolute commitment to the community, and wish them much success in their future endeavors.
