Unbound: The Intersections of Faith and Justice

 A Spiritually Guided Lent

Throughout the season of Lent and other seasons of our lives, we may find it hard to be still, reflect, and simply just be. Journey through the Mist: A Spiritually Guided Lent holds space for us to find time to breathe and cultivate spiritual practices that center us, make us more mindful, and reorient us toward wholeness.

As you journey through these 40 days of Lent and Holy Week, take time for yourself and your soul. Each day of Lent and Holy Week will consist of a recitation and a spiritual practice. These recitations can be repeated throughout the day as prayers or meditations. Each Sunday of Lent along with Palm Sunday and Easter will also be accompanied by a video meditation that can be found on the Unbound website or social channels.

Remember that you are good, and to breathe.

The Ferguson Ecology Team Video Night

Presents via Zoom: OYATE

Thur., Feb. 22 at 7 pm

The Dakota Access Pipeline protests became an inflection point for Indigenous people and modern tribal sovereignty. Thousands of people from across the country gathered at the STANDING ROCK reservation to stand in solidarity with the Lakota people. Since then, community leaders have used their newfound platform to organize and educate people about their issues.

Interfaith Clergy Support Group

Provident Health offers an interfaith Clergy Support Group to encourage peer-to-peer interaction and support. While the design of this group is for members of the clergy to connect and help each other, every session is facilitated by a licensed therapist who will prompt and encourage conversation and assess individuals who may benefit from more intensive services. Flyer Found Here.

This is an open group format, allowing anyone to join at any time. You may complete an enrollment form at your first group, or download a form from our website at Support Groups & Services-Provident Behavioral Health St. Louis (providentstl.org)

LENTEN JOURNEY OPPORTUNITIES

with a Place of Grace

A Place of Grace is offering-based. Prayer Art Retreats require sixteen hours of preparation (10 for liturgy and artwork options, one and a half hours to load and unload the van, three hours for the retreat, and one and a half hours to reload and unload the van afterward) total and $5 in supplies per person. With the Lenten registration, you will get thirty emailed devotions with step-outs for a tangle each day, and six days of having your work posted on the APOG Facebook Page. I estimate that it will take an hour per day to create the step-outs and the devotions and email them out, and approximately five minutes per email to download the artwork and repost it on the Page. In-person offerings may be made via cash or check. Electronic offerings may be made via PayPal.me/JulieGvillo or Venmo (@Julie-Gvillo).

SMALL CHURCH SABBATICAL FUND CREATED

jesus-stained-glass.jpg

The Presbytery through the Omnibus Motion at the most recent gathering approved the guidelines established by the Commission on Ministry for use of the “Small Church Sabbatical Fund.”

A sabbatical” concept is rooted in the Hebrew concept of the sabbatical year to be observed every seven years, allowing land to rest and lie fallow. The concept has been adopted widely within the academic community for a period of rest, study, and/or travel. More recently, the value of a sabbatical period for pastors has been recognized as providing benefits to both pastor and congregation and the ministry they share.
