WE NEED YOUR HELP

We NEED you!!!

This is it. It's the last time we'll ask. Truly. We are only DAYS AWAY from the 2024 Association of Partners in Christian Education Annual Event at St. Louis Union Station, and we need your help. I don't know how much more clearly to say this: We cannot do this without you.

LOVING OUR NEIGHBORS AS OURSELVES

  • Please pray for... those who are traveling in winter storm weather.

  • Please pray for... APCE Leader Volunteers as they get all they need in the days ahead.

  • Please pray for ... our unhoused and underserved neighbors in the winter storms and bitterly cold temperatures.

The Doctrine of Discovery

Unmasking The Domination Code

Thursday, January 25 at 7:00 PM

A story of historical truth, spirituality, and resistance, told on behalf of the original nations and peoples of Great Turtle Island, and elsewhere on Mother Earth. We are still here, and still rightfully free.

This film, based on Steven Newcomb’s book PAGANS in The Promised Land, explores the religious, political, and legal systems that have, since the time of Christopher Columbus, been the foundation and precedent for dominating the peoples, lands, and resources of original nations and other citizens in the United States and on other continents. The environmental impact and degradation from the ensuing political oppression, economic exploitation, and religious legitimation of the Doctrine of Discovery continue to this day.

Tips For Caring For God's Creation:

Buy energy-efficient appliances!

When shopping for appliances like freezers, dishwashers, washing machines, and dryers, compare the Energy Guide Labels on various models to determine their energy efficiency. Have a great new year doing earth-friendly things around your church, home, workplace, and school!

"TIPS" is brought to you by the Earth Care Work Group of the Presbytery which monitors the ten Earth Care Congregations in the Presbytery and advocates for low-income, people of color, and indigenous people who are often harmed most and worst by degraded environmental conditions. Contact: carletonstock@aol.com or 314-941-9378.

A Place of Grace is busy in January....

  • January 10 - Mission Madness Retreat -- Community Hope Center, Cottage Hills, IL, 9 a.m. to noon.
  • January 18 - January Prayer Art Retreat -- Von Dell Gallery & Studios, 102 E Ferguson, Wood River, IL. 6 p.m. Each month, worship unfolds at Von Dell Gallery & Studios (102 E Ferguson, Wood River, IL) and art is created in response to scripture and prayer. The community that gathers comes prepared to listen for God to speak to them through meditation and through the art they and their fellow artists create. No previous art experience is required -- if you can form letters, you can tangle. People of a variety of denominational backgrounds participate. Communion is served at the end. Please RSVP via the web site: aplaceofgrace-juliegvillo.net/upcoming-events.html by noon the day before the events you plan to attend, so I can be adequately prepared. Space is limited.
