SEEKING CO-EDITOR

The Search Committee for the Presbyterian Women of Giddings-Lovejoy is searching for a co-editor of their newsletter entitled, The Linkletter. The co-editor will be responsible for using technology to format articles and pictures related to Presbyterian Women’s activities into a publication that can be shared throughout the Presbytery. The Linkletter is sent by email, usually on a quarterly basis. The Linkletter co-editor will attend Co-ordinating Team meetings that are held by Zoom on the third Friday of each month from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. University of the Ozarks welcomes

Rev. Henrion is the Visiting Pastor

for the Week of October 7


The Rev. Kathleen Henrion, pastor of Glendale Presbyterian Church (GPC) in the St. Louis, Mo. area, will visit campus on the week of Oct. 7 as part of the University of the Ozarks’ Struthers Visiting Pastoral Study Leave Program. She will speak at the University’s weekly Chapel Service at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

While on the campus, Henrion will be working on her forthcoming book, “A Soft Place to Land,” an invitation into a Christian community that “embraces Jesus’ radical inclusion and lifts up the values of intergenerational community.” She is writing for Tehom Center Publishing as part of the Ministry from the Margins Co-hort. ​We are also pleased to announce that the 2024 Haseman Lecturer October 12-13 will be the Rev. Dr. Victor Aloyo Ordained as a Minister of the Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Dr. Aloyo is the 11th President of Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA. Before being called to Columbia, Victor served as the Chief Diversity Officer and Associate Dean of Institutional Diversity and Community Engagement at Princeton Theological Seminary and as Organizing/Lead Pastor of La Iglesia Presbiteriana Nuevas Fronteras.

The MVM member will share information about 5 proposed constitutional amendments and one proposition that will be on the November 5th election ballot.

Proposition A: increase the state's minimum wage to $15.

Amendments to be discussed are:

·        Amendment 2: Legalize and regulate sports wagering

·        Amendment 3: Provide state constitutional right to reproductive freedom, defined to include abortion

·        Amendment 5: Permit additional gambling boat license on the Osage River

·        Amendment 6: Levy costs and fees to support law enforcement personnel salaries and benefits

·        Amendment 7: Prohibit ranked-choice voting and noncitizen voting

The 2024 Florence L. Warren Lectureship at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary, titled “Presbyterian Identity Today,” will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024.

 Free and open to the public, the lectureship will begin with a panel discussion from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Straatmeyer Rehearsal Room, Heritage Center, University of Dubuque. The discussion will also be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/DubuqueSeminary.
