Stated Clerk’s “Spotlight for Polity”

April 2025 Edition

"Being the seasoned Presbyterian you are, you know there are all kinds of problems with what just happened. Time being important, you rush to the microphone, interrupting the current speaker if necessary, and say “Moderator, Point of Order!..."

SUMMER GRANT APPLICATIONS DUE ON APRIL 16

Public Witness Team partners with others in our local communities to proclaim God’s love in the public square by encouraging all of God’s people to participate in fulfilling God’s call for justice and equity for all people within the laws of our nation, states, and municipalities. Presbyterian Women connects to the presbytery through the Public Witness Team.

The cost per youth delegate is $400. We are grateful to the synod, presbytery, and generous members who have contributed to offsetting the cost of this incredible experience.

For churches sending two (2) or more youth as part of the presbytery delegation: please select one individual to represent your church. That individual will be responsible for registering your youth with the presbytery registrar (Matt Miller) using the link below and will be the person who receives communication regarding deadlines and important Triennium information (note: this person is not required to attend Triennium). We are asking churches to submit a $100 deposit per youth by April 18th (details included on the registration form).

Registration will close on Friday, April 18th

If you are an individual attending Triennium as the only delegate for your church, please contact us at triennium@glpby.org.

We do not want finances to restrict any interested youth from experiencing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity- grants and scholarships are available! For more details on applying for a Triennium grant, please contact us at triennium@glpby.org

Grace Camp: Mission Madness

In May, we have Grace Camp: Mission Madness May 27-30, where we will work with all the agencies in one week! We work all day with varying schedules. Participants may begin registering NOW by responding to this email for details. It is a great opportunity for a family staycation or for youth to get their community service hours (minors must be accompanied by a supervising adult). For details, watch the newsletter or reach out to juliegvillo.aplaceofgrace@gmail.com

Webster Groves Presbyterian has some church pews available. There are 16 long pews. They are approximately 141" L x 21" D x 34" H. There are two others with the same length and height but slightly greater depth due to the detailing of the back pews. There are also four that were shorted for wheelchair access, so same depth and height but 113" in length.

Anyone interested in the pews should contact Beth Kazlauskas at bok@wgpc.org

Annual Financial Review - Call to Help!

Does your church struggle to complete the annual requirement to conduct an Annual Financial Review as required by the Book of Order, G-3.0113, due to a lack of financial or human resources? If so, your community is not alone. Many of our churches across the Presbytery struggle each year to complete this requirement or cannot afford to utilize a third-party review as they would like. However, many of our other churches are blessed with qualified and talented membership who can provide this gift for their church. As Presbyterians and fellow Christians, we are called to be the connectional church, and so this is a call for help across the Presbytery. If your church has someone with the qualifications and talents for financial reviews and would be willing to be asked by other churches looking for help, for a reasonable honorarium or gift for their time, please let us know! The dream is to develop a contact list, like our Pulpit Supply list, as a resource to share with Presbytery. For questions or submissions, please contact the Stated Clerk directly. Email beddy@glpby.org

Stewardship Kaleidoscope, an ecumenical conference planned by volunteers from the PCUSA and ELCA, is designed for pastors and lay leaders to provide practical tools to strengthen your congregation's stewardship and generosity programs. This year’s conference will be in New Orleans, Louisiana, September 22-24, with an online virtual registration option as well. In-person attendees will be able to choose from dozens of workshops in addition to attending diverse plenary sessions and worship experiences. Virtual attendees will be able to join us for live-streamed and recorded plenaries and worship, and will also have access to 8 workshops, 4 of which will be available via be livestream. Learn More Here
