DECEMBER 2018
Greetings!

The Christmas season is such a wonderful time of year for so many reasons. The chance to spend time with our family and friends, to get dressed up for parties and gatherings, and to choose special gifts for those we care about. At the Mulberry Bush Bookstores we believe books make the best gifts because they're timeless, personal, re-readable, portable, they don't require batteries, are perfect for sharing, and so enjoyable.

We have beautiful new books arriving daily. We also have a unique collection of Christmas cards, stocking stuffers, calendars and special gifts for everyone on your list.

November was a busy month for us. We took a great selection of books to the QB Elementary School Book Fair, hosted three author events, as well as our Moonlight Madness, Customer Appreciation Day, and Cider Mondays in both stores. December starts off with a favourite event that we’ve been doing for almost 20 years – the Lasqueti Island Book Sale on Dec. 1st, with proceeds going to False Bay Elementary School.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your friendship and support in 2018. We wish you a Christmas filled with peace, love, family and friends and a joyous New Year in 2019.

Merry Christmas!

SOS ANGEL TREE PROGRAM
WE ARE HAPPY TO BE PARTICIPATING IN THE
SOS ANGEL TREE PROGRAM AGAIN THIS YEAR.
How the program works:

The Angel Tree program helps stock the SOS Toy Shop where parents, grandparents and caregivers can shop for free for their children.

Purchase the gift listed on one of the Angel ornaments, attach the Angel to your unwrapped gift and return it to the business location to ensure it is included in the gift distribution

We stock all the Angel Tree book selections and are pleased to be able to donate several boxes of books to help fill the shelves of the SOS store.

WE HAVE UNIQUE STOCKING STUFFERS!
Check out our lovely bookmarks, mini books, puzzles, CD's, mugs, notepads, purse pads and other small gifts that make perfect
stocking stuffers!

Come in & see our complete selection!

"Designed to rewild childhood and to delight adults this breathtakingly beautiful book is an absolute treasure for all to enjoy, over and over again.
Buy it for a child or for a nature loving adult, it is in a word, spellbinding."
BARB'S PICK

"In this beautifully illustrated dinner diary, you can keep track of what dishes and wines you serve to which guests: friends, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and holidays.
Choose from more than 75 charmingly designed borders and use it to frame your menu. In the space on the opposite page, your guests can sign their names and write little notes, creating a lovely book of memories."
TOM'S PICK

In a skillful blend of natural history, Indigenous stories and interviews with scientists and conservationists, Wild examines our evolving relationship with wolves and how society’s attitudes affect the populations, behaviour and conservation of wolves today.

" The bestselling author of The Cougar  has written this engaging non-fiction book about the Wolves here on Vancouver Island and beyond. Very informative with excellent photos."
RACHAEL'S PICK

"18 year-old Juliet Armstrong is recruited by MI5 in 1940 to transcribe the conversations of British fascist sympathizers. As the war progresses she climbs the ranks and becomes a spy herself. 10 years later, working for the BBC, thinking the past behind her, she begins receiving threatening anonymous notes: “You will pay for what you did.” Well-plotted, clever wordplay and a compelling evocation of wartime London."
MARIANNE'S PICK

"Beautifully inspiring! This book gives one the feel of a traditional Christmas, while instilling a feeling of attainable elegance. A joy to savor, Anna's recipes are unfussy and exceedingly festive!"

Anyone who loves this joyous time of year will love these heartwarming and entertaining stories of family bonding, holiday hijinks, community spirit, and family and religious traditions.
Travel to the beautiful northern edge of the world and join the welcoming community of Mure for a Highland Christmas you'll never forget! And warm up your kitchen with bonus recipes for the Little Beach Street Bakery’s seasonal shortbread, Lanark Blue Scones, and Black Buns.
Set on the scenic fjords of Norway, this new novel from bestselling author Karen Swan is a moving holiday tale
of love and heartbreak.
In this beautiful holiday keepsake, Rick Warren, the author of  The Purpose Driven Life,  expounds on the profound origins of Christmas and shows how we can welcome the season of peace into our lives.
As the acknowledged "Queen of Crime," P. D. James was frequently commissioned by newspapers and magazines to write a special short story for Christmas. Four of the best have been collected together for the first time in one volume.
From bestselling author Sarah Morgan comes this heartwarming, emotionally rich new novel set in the snowy Highlands of Scotland, brimming with her trademark Christmas sparkle!
