Gig Harbor is at the Seattle Boat Show through February 2

The City of Gig Harbor and community volunteers, in partnership with the Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard, is exhibiting at the Seattle Boat Show at CenturyLink Field Event Center through February 2.
There is only a couple of days left to catch us at the show! The show includes the latest watercraft and accessories, free boating and fishing seminars, food and fun, family-friendly activities. If you're at the show, stop in and see us in the East Hall.

Empty Bowls Fundraiser at Boys & Girls Club on February 16

Presented by Altrusa of Gig Harbor, the Empty Bowls event aims to raise funds to fight child hunger in the area. Empty Bowls will be held at the Gig Harbor Boys & Girls Club from 11 am to 2 pm on Saturday, February 16. Event goers purchase a hand-crafted bowl and choose a delicious soup donated by local restaurants and chefs to fill it. Enjoy a simple meal and feed a hungry child!

Take an underwater journey of Gig Harbor bay without getting wet! Harbor WildWatch educators narrate a live stream from underwater cameras used by divers. Jerisich Dock, February 2, 6 - 7 pm.
The season kick off will feature Ken Campbell, Ikkatsu Project, on Marine Debris in the Wilds of Alaska at the Gig Harbor Taproom, 3155 Harborview Drive, 5:30 – 7 pm. Cost is $5 at the door, Harbor WildWatch Steward Club members have free admission.

Call for Art: Seeking Salish Artist to Create Artwork
|
Application Deadline for proposals is March 15. A group of Gig Harbor residents, in partnership with the Puyallup Tribe of Indians, Gig Harbor Arts Commission and Gig Harbor Kiwanis Foundation, encourages Coast Salish artists to submit proposals for an artwork that will honor the town’s first residents, the sxwəbabš band (pronounced sk-WHUH-babsh) of the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. The artwork will be placed in Austin Estuary Park on the shore of Gig Harbor Bay near the original sxwəbabš’ village.

Public Invited to Give Input on New City Park Name
|
The City's Park Commission will be taking public input at a February 6th Public Hearing on the naming of the its newest park, formerly known as the Haub triangle property. The 2-acre forested park property, purchased by the City in 2018, is located at the corner of Soundview Drive and Harborview Drive.
The purpose of the Public Hearing is to gather additional input in order for the Parks Commission to provide naming recommendations to City Council.
The Parks Commission will meet in Community Rooms A&B on Wednesday, February 6, 5 pm. at the Civic Center, 3510 Grandview Street.
In the meantime, please visit our park! There's trails, a picnic table and is dog-friendly. You might even feel inspired to pledge dollars towards a new gazebo for the park!
