Waterfront Restaurant Week Starts THIS Sunday, March 3!
Gig Harbor's Waterfront Restaurant Week is coming up next week, March 3 - 7! Restaurants participating in Restaurant Week, like Brimstone PNW, will feature special “fixed price” menu items. It’s a great way to try that new place you’ve been curious about, support your longtime favorite spot, or perhaps experience new and creative menu items. March 15 Deadline for Call For Art Honoring Project
A group of Gig Harbor residents, in partnership with the Puyallup Tribe of Indians, Gig Harbor Arts Commission and Gig Harbor Kiwanis Foundation, encourages Coast Salish artists to submit proposals for artwork that will honor the town’s first residents, the sxwəbabš band (pronounced sk-WHUH-babsh) of the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. Application deadline for proposals is March 15. The artwork will be placed in Austin Estuary Park on the shore of Gig Harbor Bay near the original sxwəbabš’ village. More info & RFP
Paradise Theatre Presents, in Partnership with PenMet Parks,"Charlotte's Web"
From March 1 - March 23, Paradise Theatre will be presenting, in partnership with PenMet Parks, "Charlotte's Web." All shows will be at Rosedale Hall - PenMet Parks, 8205 86th Ave NW. Tickets and more information can be found at paradisetheater.org.
InterGenFest on March 30
InterGenFest, a community service event designed to engage seniors and youth, is scheduled for Saturday, March 30, 10 am - 2:30 pm, at the Cheney Boys & Girls Club. Sessions include smart phone tips for seniors, interviewing skills for youth, Talking Saves Lives and water color is not magic.

March Events at Harbor History Museum
Tuesday, March 5, 6 pm: Gig Harbor Literary Society meeting, dedicated to exploring the literary world of historical fiction, nonfiction, and other works of interest. The book for the March meeting is Bone River by Megan Chance.

Thursday, March 14, 6 pm: As a compliment to the “Bomber Boys: Portraits from the Front” exhibit currently on display, the Harbor History Museum welcomes back audio historian and broadcaster, John Jensen for another Humanities in the Harbor presentation on "Washington State in Wartime: The Home Front in 1942."

Pier Into the Night (LAST program of the season on March 2!)
Take an underwater journey of Gig Harbor bay without getting wet! Harbor WildWatch educators narrate a live stream from underwater cameras used by divers. Jerisich Dock, March 2, 7 pm.

Cocktails & Fishtales on March 20 at Ocean5
Filmmaker and acoustic ecologist Matt Mikkelsen will screen the National Geographic-recognized short film "Being Hear" and discuss noise pollution in Olympic National Park at Ocean5, 5:30 – 7 pm. Cost is $5 at the door, Harbor WildWatch Steward Club members have free admission.
Gig Harbor Film Festival's 72 Hour Film Competition Submissions will Screen at IMAX Theatre on March 24
Given the huge turnout at the 2018 Competition’s screening event, this year’s submissions will be shown in the IMAX theatre, on March 24, starting at 2 pm. Watch the films and then stay for the awards ceremony afterwards!.  Link to additional information .
Gig Harbor Night Market: March Edition is at 7 Seas is on the 9th
Enjoy art, music, food, vendors and beer at the Gig Harbor Night Market on March 9, 4 - 10 pm. Want a fun night out in the community? Check out this happening at 7 Seas Brewing, 3006 Judson St. #110.

Wednesday, March 6, 6:30 - 8:30 pm: Music at the BoatShop Featuring Daymark. Daymark is an international trio performing traditional Irish music. The group presents a classic blend of wind and string as driving flute meets virtuosic fiddle, underpinned by well-considered and expertly delivered guitar. Click here for more info.

Thursday, March 14, 6 - 9 pm: Varnishing 101 - join the BoatShop in their woodstove-heated joiner shop for a new workshop focused on varnishing. Click here for more information.

Meaningful Movies in Gig Harbor on March 8
Meaningful Movies in Gig Harbor presents the documentary,"Rights of Nature," on Friday, March 8, 6 pm, at the Agnus Dei Church, 10511 Peacock Hill. "Come for the free movie. Stay for the stimulating community discussion."

Wings & Wheels Seeks Volunteers
Consider volunteering at the 9th annual Wings and Wheels air and car show July 6th & 7th at Tacoma Narrows Airport. Volunteers help with admissions, parking, security, set up and breakdown. Every volunteer gets a t-shirt and lunch, plus, if you are part of a registered nonprofit, a percentage of gate proceeds will be donated to your nonprofit. They need around 50-55 people per day. Public Participation Needed for Shoreline Master Program
The City is conducting a periodic review of its Shoreline Master Program and is seeking the public's participation.

City Earns WellCity Award
The City of Gig Harbor has earn the AWC (Association of Washington Cities) 2019 WellCity Award by meeting nine best practice standards for employee health promotion and will receive a 2% premium discount on all AWC medical premiums. Congratulations to all the City employees who have made a commitment o their health and wellness!
