Ancich Waterfront Park Art Dedication on October 8 at 5:30 pm
Scarecrow Festival is on October 5
The 10th annual Scarecrow Festival will be held on Saturday, October 5, 10 am - 4 pm at Sehmel Homestead Park. Featuring Vendors, Scarecrow Contest, Live Entertainment, Family Friendly Activities and a Pumpkin Launcher, this year's event will be bringing the FUN to FALL!

Gig Harbor Night Market: October Edition is on October 5
Enjoy art, music, food, vendors and beer at the Gig Harbor Night Market on October 5, 4 - 9 pm. Evening fun for all ages and free! Join in on this community event at 7 Seas Brewing, 3006 Judson St. #110

Call for Art: Harbor Art Project - Due on October 8
The Gig Harbor Arts Commission is sponsoring the artistic carving and/or embellishment of select tree snags throughout the city. Deadline to submit an application is Tuesday, October 8th at 4:30 pm.

Plant Swap at Uptown
on October 12
The popular Gig Harbor Plant Swap is happening at Uptown on Saturday, October 12, 10 - 11 am. Meet in the parking lot south of HomeGoods. Bring seedlings, plants, seeds or garden supplies to trade with other gardeners. Trades only, no sales.

City Council Candidates at Evening Rotary Meeting on October 15
Evening Rotary Club of Gig Harbor North presents speakers Le Rodenberg and Tracie Markley, candidates for Gig Harbor City Council Positions 6 and 4 (respectively), on Tuesday, October 15. The meeting will be held at the Maritime Room at Heron's Key, 4340 Borgen Blvd, at 5 pm.

The meeting is open to the public to come meet and listen to the candidates.

Harbor WildWatch Activities in
Take an underwater journey of Gig Harbor Bay without getting wet! While you stay warm and dry on the dock, our divers use an underwater video camera to live stream exactly what they encounter below the surface. This program takes place on Jerisich Public Dock the first Saturday of the month from October-March and runs approximately an hour.

Meaningful Movies in Gig Harbor is on October 11
Meaningful Movies in Gig Harbor presents the documentary, "Strangers in Town" on October 11 at Agnus Dei Church, 11051 Peacock Hill. Snacks and socializing at 6 pm, movie at 6:30 pm. The event is free, donation is gratefully accepted. Special Guest will be the Kitsap Immigrant Assistance Center.
State of the Watershed
Meeting on October 10
KGI (Key Peninsula - Gig Harbor - Islands) Watershed Council is hosting a State of the Watershed meeting on Thursday, October 10, 6 - 8 pm at Sehmel Homestead Park.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide information to the public about what is going on in the watershed. Speakers from Pierce County, Dept. of Ecology, and other agencies are scheduled for the meeting.

Quilts Ahoy! Quilt Show is
October 18 & 19
The Quilt's Ahoy Quilt Show will be held October 18 and 19 this year at the Gig Harbor Yacht Club, 10 am - 4 pm both days. Traditional, contemporary and art quilts; Woolies; Wearable Art; Applique and beading...and more. Visit the Boutique where you will find all kinds of treasures, including quilts, wall hangings, table runners and other fabric art.

Parents Night Off - Halloween Kid's Night Out on October 19
Hosted by PenMet Parks at Rosedale Hall on Saturday, October 19, this Halloween-themed Kids Night Out features spooktacular games, ghoulish crafts, pizza dinner and a showing of "A Nightmare Before Christmas." The fun starts at 5 pm, ending at 9 pm. More info here.

Rock the Boat Benefit Dinner & Auction is on October 26
New Community Event! Rattle Dem Bones Halloween Bike Ride & Costume Contest on October 27
Make your way to Kimball Park and Ride on Sunday, October 27 for Halloween-themed, family-friendly bike rides!

The first Rattle Dem Bones Halloween Bike Ride & Costume Contest will have:

  • A choice of 12, 22 or 36 miles of fun,
  • Themed recharge stations,
  • Event photos,
  • Costume contests, and
  • A post-ride party with live music by Budapest West.

Challenge rides start at 7 am, Family Ride at 8:30 am.

Halloween-Themed Events at Uptown Gig Harbor
Master Pumpkin Carver, Monday, October 28, starting at 10 am:
Watch Master Pumpkin Carver, Russ Leno, work on a creation on October 28, at the Uptown Pavilion. He'll start around 10 am, working through the day until he is done.

Trick or Treat at Uptown: 4 - 6 pm on October 31.
Call for Art: 2020 Gig Harbor Garden Tour - Deadline Nov. 1st
The Gig Harbor Garden Tour Association invites local artists to submit two-dimensional garden related artwork to be considered for the publicity poster for the 23rd Annual Gig Harbor Garden Tour. The selected artist will not receive a monetary stipend but will benefit from many facets of publicity and exposure of the Tour such as posters, cards, calendar, press releases and program booklet. The selected artist will be able to have a complimentary booth space with the 2020 Garden Tour.

Gig Harbor BoatShop Splicing Workshop on October 17
Have you ever wanted to learn how to make an eye-splice for mooring lines or other types of nautical applications? Gig Harbor BoatShop is offering a class on eye-splicing, nautical seizings and whippings on October 17. Class is limited to six participants. Peninsula Guild # 1 Thrift Shop Holiday Sale Begins October 29
Peninsula Guild #1 Thrift Shop will be having their annual HOLIDAY SALE beginning October 29 and running through November 15. Hours are 10 am to 4 pm, Tuesday - Friday. NEW LOCATION PENDING! Stay tuned next month! Beautiful holiday items have been donated by our generous community throughout the year, stored and will be available for this special sale. All proceeds benefit Multi-Care Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.  
Stinson Avenue Watermain Replacement Continues Into October
The Stinson Avenue Watermain Replacement Project is scheduled for completion in October. The major task that remains to complete is asphalt paving, which is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 30, and continue through the first week of October. Night work is expected to occur during paving at the intersection of Pioneer Way and Grandview Street, where a detour may be utilized. 

It is suggested to use alternative routes as identified in the diagram above, as it is expected there will be significant vehicular delay during paving in the vicinity of Stinson Avenue throughout the duration of the project.

You can now find the interactive web map tool, "Am I in the City of Gig Harbor," online at the City's website, on the City Limits page and the Utilities page. Among other features, the map shows if a property is in/out of the city limits, and can direct a user to utility providers or appropriate city/county departments.
