Girls' Choice Substitution Application Process Is Now Open!

Hello everyone! Hope you are enjoying the beautiful summer weather because hockey & winter will be upon us soon. We're starting this month's edition with the same information that was in the June issue because of its importance.

PLAYER MOVEMENT & THE 2-CHOICE RULES

(1) Player Movement… this rule has been revised & will be effective beginning in the upcoming season (2021-22). Previously known as the 2,4,6,8 rule, we chose to change its name & make it more restrictive to help not only families have a better sense of stability but also to help Organizations have more sustainability. The detailed information can be found in Article 17 of the AHAI Rules and Regulations located on the AHAI website at www.ahai.org.

17.16 PLAYER MOVEMENT

(2) The 2-Choice Rule… this rule has been in effect since the 2019-20 season & we are now entering year 3 which for some may mean requesting a choice substitution. This rule may also be found in Article 17 of the AHAI Rules and Regulations located on the AHAI website at www.ahai.org.

Requesting a choice substitution does not guarantee an approval.

The application process will be located on the AHAI website & you MUST click on the Girls’ tab in order for your application to be directed to the Girls’ Committee for review. If you are choosing to request a choice, the application went live on July 18th.

Remember… this is separate from the 2-choice rule on the Youth side.

As noted in last month’s issue, our Girls’ calendar of events will capture & publish various events going on in Illinois for our Girls’ Community. Please check it every month as confirmed dates will be added as needed.

AUGUST 2021

August 11 - Choice Substitution Hearings at 7pm - In-Person or Zoom (TBD)
August 15 - Girls Tier II tryouts begin
August 25 - Choice Substitution Hearings at 7pm - In-Person or Zoom (TBD)

SEPTEMBER 2021

September 27 - College Hockey Night at 7pm at the Westin Chicago Northwest in Itasca.
September 28 - Parent's Education Night Webinar at 7pm: registration & content information will be in the August issue of Girls Snapshot

OCTOBER 2021

October 26 - Parent's Education Night Webinar at 7pm: registration & content information will be in the August issue of Girls Snapshot

MARCH 2022

March 5 - Illinois State Championships Day
March 11-13 - Central District Championships Tournament
March 31-April 4 - USA Hockey National Championships

APRIL 2022

April 20-25 - America's Showcase in St. Louis, MO

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

This year we would like to begin a new program by recognizing Senior Night for our Girls’ High School Teams & our Tier II 19U teams. Please send an email to the AHAI Girls’ Committee Chair, Anita Lichterman at girls@ahai2.org, when you have these dates so we can do a shout out.

We are also looking for creativity from the Girls' Community. Help the Girls’ Committee create the Girls’ page on the AHAI website. We are looking for ideas for content & design. Let’s make it empowering for our girls & women to be involved in the Hockey World!
