Girls Inc. LA Reaches Four New Schools

Thanks to your incredible support, we are proud to welcome 74th Street Elementary, 75th Street Elementary, West Athens Elementary and Bret Harte Preparatory Middle School as partner schools for the 2025-2026 school year!

To introduce our organization to the community, we participated in the Los Angeles Education Partnership (LAEP) Family STEAM Night at 75th Street Elementary School. During the event we hosted a hands-on activity in which students were asked to create a vessel using only aluminum capable of holding the most pennies without sinking, sparking their creativity and interest in STEAM.

We can't do it without you! Consider giving a donation to help build a future where every girl sees herself as a strong, smart and bold leaders!

PROGRAMMING

Mental Health Awareness Month

According to a Pew Research Center Survey published earlier this year, girls are facing elevated rates of depression and anxiety compared to boys and feel increased pressure to fit in socially.

At Girls Inc., we are focused on showing up for our girls and creating a safe space where they can be themselves.

To help them de-stress, we hosted a sweet, hands-on cookie decorating activity where each girl got to customize their cookie with colorful icing and sprinkles. The activity helped them take a moment to pause, come together and tap into their creativity.

Igniting Curiosity with Deloitte

The Deloitte team curated a dynamic STEM Day at their Inglewood office for our Bethune Middle School participants.

Highlights included a Virtual Reality session where girls played a game that taught them how to change a tire and an IT Session where they explored the inner workings of a computer— learning to take it apart and reassemble it piece by piece.

They also dove into Accounting 101 where they learned about finance and we ended the day by planting a succulent, an activity loved by all.

We are grateful to Deloitte for investing in experiences that broaden our girls' horizons and ignite curiosity.

Together We Rise

Another LA Girls Rise for the books! Your support made our 4th Annual LA Girls Rise our best one yet!

We were thrilled to have multi-platinum recording artist Becky G as our Mistress of Ceremonies. During the program Becky G shared, "I’m truly inspired by the organization’s work to empower girls to be strong, smart, and bold. So many young girls have incredible talent and ambition. They just need someone to recognize it, nurture it, and cheer them on. For me, that person was my mom. She believed in me from Day 1. Still, I know things could’ve been a little easier if I had more mentors in my corner, especially at school, people who believed in my potential and helped create a positive, supportive community around me."

Thank you to every single person who showed up, donated, partnered and remains committed to ensuring Girls Inc. programs reach more girls across Los Angeles.
