Game Time with Angel City Football Club

Angel City Football Club (ACFC) helped us kick off October by hosting a soccer clinic for our girls at Stoner Avenue Elementary School. Donning official ACFC gear, the girls formed groups and practiced soccer basics such as kicking, dribbling and passing. The girls also participated in a friendly scrimmage, where they displayed their skills and teamwork.

This semester, we are focused on our Strong Unit, which provides girls with the opportunity to engage in conversations and activities that help them develop emotional wellness, build healthy relationships and establish healthy habits for their physical and mental well-being. Sports, like soccer, provide a fun way for our girls to learn new skills, develop their communication skills and practice teamwork, building their confidence on and off the field.

PROGRAMMING

Healing Through Sound

As part of our Strong Unit, the girls at Bethune Middle School experienced a sound bath led by Kéo.

During the session, we learned about the power of sound and vibrations used to relax and decompress. Girls closed their eyes, practiced their breathing and immersed themselves in the sound bath, relaxing as they heard the sound waves. A highlight was the girls getting the chance to use the crystal singing bowls to create the sounds firsthand.

We're grateful for Kéo who stopped by to introduce girls to a new self-care practice that they can use to relax their mind and body.
