Accepting Applications for Peter Michaud Memorial Scholarship
Two deserving graduating seniors (one from New Berlin Eisenhower, one from New Berlin West) will each receive a $1,000 scholarship award to attend any accredited post-secondary institution. The Foundation’s Peter Michaud Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2021 by School District of New Berlin educators to honor their former colleague. Mr. Michaud was a beloved elementary school teacher to many in the School District of New Berlin; because of his passion for world travel and exploration, candidates will submit an essay expressing their own interest or experience with travel and/or world exploration.
"Give Education” is a 24-hour online fundraising event helping K-12 public schools across the country. This year, the foundation is raising funds to support our programs which provide ‘above and beyond’ programs for students and teachers in the district such as our impact grant program and scholarships.

With every donation, donors will have the option to share an appreciation “shout-out” to a special teacher, support staff member or team. These shout-outs will be shared with the respective staff members, administrators and possibly posted on our social media pages.

$7,800 Awarded in Impact Grants
The First Tee School Program aims to create a safe introduction to golf technique and vocabulary while helping students strengthen their character and confidence through the positive personal and social values associated with the lifetime sport. This program will extend the golf curriculum from the secondary schools into fourth-through-sixth grades at all elementary schools. This award of $5,000 is presented to physical education teachers Katie Mulloy at Ronald Reagan and Melanie Gearhart at Elmwood
The Mindful Movement Program will help students quiet their minds by developing a stronger connection to their bodies through guided movement. Utilizing movement-based practices in the classroom can help students reset their nervous system when needed so they are better prepared to pay attention and learn. The equipment provided by the grant will not only be used to support classroom learning but also support the professional development of teachers and staff throughout the district. This award of $2,800 is presented to Poplar Creek third-grade teacher Nichole Donahue and Ronald Reagan kindergarten teacher Melissa Schmalz.
The Education Foundation of New Berlin works to support and strengthen excellence in education, athletics, and extracurriculars throughout the School District of New Berlin by increasing financial support, awareness, and advocacy.
