Giving Thanks @ My Library

DRG Oct 2021 Retouched.jpg

Debra Rhodes Gibson, Library Director

St. Johns County Public Library System

November is a month for reflection. It’s a time when our thoughts turn inward to focus on the goodness in our lives. It’s a time to be with our friends and our families, and to share food and conversation. It’s a time for togetherness and a time to give thanks.

During this season, my focus will be on the things for which I am thankful. I'm thankful I get to live in such a beautiful area. I’m thankful I get to work for the library. I'm thankful for the residents of St. Johns County who support and use the library. I am especially thankful that we have such a strong library system, with a large collection of materials and great staff who focus on quality customer service. I'm thankful for good library board members and commissioners who support us as we strive to make the library a valuable part of the community.

National Native American Heritage Month.png

Celebrate the History and Culture of America's Indigenous Peoples

In 1990, President George H. W. Bush approved a joint resolution designating November 1990 as “National American Indian Heritage Month.” We take this time to recognize the significant contributions America’s indigenous peoples made to the establishment and growth of the United States, as well as help share their history and commemorate their enduring culture. Celebrate native voices by checking out a few of the books found on the list linked below.
