On November 6th, local children's charities received $400,000 from employees of the Valero Benicia Refinery who helped raise the funds through the Valero Energy Foundation and the company's sponsorship of the 2019 Valero Texas Open and Benefit for Children.

Thanks to the overwhelming support of Valero's business partners and sponsors, the Valero Texas Open and Benefit for Children generated more than $15 million in net proceeds to be distributed to charities throughout the United States where Valero has major operations.

Another Round of Recognition for 50 Years of Benicia Refinery Operations

At the November 19th meeting, the Solano County Board of Supervisors issued a resolution recognizing the Benicia Refinery's 50 years of positive impact on the community. This comes after the California Legislature and Benicia City Council passed similar resolutions last month.

Valero’s Volunteer Council continued their collaboration with the Benicia Tree Foundation and spent time on October 19th planting trees at Park Solano with other community volunteers.

The students of Orchard Elementary School in Vacaville observed 'First Responder Day' on November 6th to celebrate first responders and recognize their sacrifices for the community.

Bill McCune, a Captain with the Valero Refinery Fire Department, was on hand with first responders from around Solano County - including Vacaville Policy and Fire Departments, Solano County Sheriff and the California Highway Patrol.
