Ten days of Prizes to help Support Local!
|
The Tennis Academy teamed up with Coach Sonia and Angelina to help encourage the kids at home to keep up their fitness. We did this by combining the 10 Days Of Prizes incentive with our Support Local initiative. All prizes were sponsored by The Tennis Academy and Angelina Claughton, Body and Mind Fitness and are from some of our favorite local business (including us, of course)
Now, more than ever, it is important to support our local businesses. Recently the Tennis Academy sent an email to our community members asking how we can help support their independent local business. Here are two businesses of our fellow members that we hope you'll consider supporting if you have the opportunity:
-
Taking on a home improvement project in Calgary, it is important to apply for a building permit before starting work — Permit Masters can help.
-
Thinking of doing some traveling, vacations have never been so cheap. Consider Boulevard Travel: 403: 237 6233
Are you a Member of the Tennis Academy that owns an independent local business? Send us an email and let us feature your company in our next newsletter.

Three Tennis Academy juniors headed to Costa Rica for two international junior events at the beginning of December. Liam Spiers, Emily Niers and Aurora Pedwell all walked away with great results and improved their international junior ranking.
Emily Niers was the star of the first tournament earning a spot into the singles round of 16 by beating Victoria Osuigwe (1,338 world ranking) 7-5, 6-4. Liam Spiers and Aurora Pedwell both shined in the 2nd tournament with Liam earning a spot into the top 16 of the singles by knocking off Paulo Pocasangre (1,409 world ranking) 6-0, 6-4! Although Aurora lost first round in the singles to a tough competitor, Aurora bounced back to earn her spot into the semifinals of the girls doubles by knocking of the #2 seeded team of Ana Grubor (439 world ranking) and Ana Zamburek (479 world ranking) 6-4, 3-6, 11-9.
Liam, Emily and Aurora represented the club with pride and determination. With these results, their final year end rankings for 2020 will be:
- Aurora Pedwell 1,575 world junior ranking
- Liam Spiers 1,703 world junior ranking
- Emily Niers 1,916 world junior ranking
Way to go Liam, Emily and Aurora! We are all very proud of you.
PS. The picture is from last year otherwise they would have been wearing their masks
