Give the Wonder of Theatre
|
With only a few days to go before Christmas, you can avoid the last minute rush in the shops and ban the thoughts of snagging a “Prime” gift by giving those left on your list the experience of theatre with Portland Playhouse.
Purchase single tickets to any of our four shows this season or a
2- or 3-show season ticket package for the people you care about most and give them an experience to remember beyond the holiday season.
Now – December 30
By Charles Dickens

January 17 - 28
A Workshop Production at the Hampton Opera Center
Created and performed by Nikki Weaver
Directed by Gretchen Corbett
In October 2015, Nikki Weaver sent a letter to 60 women - some she knew and some she didn’t - requesting a piece of fabric and an explanation of its sentimental value. The result is Weaving Women Together, an entirely female-driven piece about the loss of Weaver’s mother and how she has collected her in other women, and a magic skirt made entirely of the tales - and fabric - shared by these women.

February 28 - March 25
Book, Music & Lyrics by Michelle Horgen
Directed by Brian Weaver
Our first production back in the newly renovated Playhouse!
FUNNY, SWEET, and HEROIC; a new musical based on Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter featuring Portland favorites:
Susannah Mars, Isaac Lamb, Darius Pierce, Dana Green, Rebecca Teran and many more.
May 2 - June 10
By August Wilson
Directed by Lou Bellamy
Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright August Wilson examines black life and race relations in 1950’s Pittsburgh. This will be the seventh of Wilson’s 10-play “American Century Cycle” that the Playhouse has staged.
Director Lou Bellamy (Obie award for Two Trains Running) is the founding Artistic Director of Penumbra Theatre Company, which has produced more August Wilson productions than any company in the world, including the premiere of Jitney.
