NEWS

Light for St. Luke's: Make every watt count

St. Luke's Hospital in the West Bank serves a population of more than 455,000 people, including marginalized villages and refugee camps. The hospital struggles to provide services amid unreliable electricity and increasing fuel costs. Alongside Hope is partnering with the Diocese of Jerusalem to change that.

With your help, we're funding 407 solar panels to power St. Luke's hospital with clean, reliable energy. This $352,000 project will keep the care running, even in crisis and power outages.

Thanks to a generous donor, every gift will be matched.

Goal: $176,000

Raised as of May 28: $24,683

Thank you to everyone who has supported this project so far! Your gifts will bring light and hope to a hospital serving on the front lines in Palestine.

Highlights from the Youth Council

The Alongside Hope Youth Council has just returned from an inspiring weekend gathering on the Treaty Territory of Fort William First Nation in Thunder Bay! Youth leaders from across the community came together to build relationships, share powerful stories, and help shape the vision, goals, and hopes for the year ahead.

A highlight of the weekend included a visit to Mount McKay, where the council participated in the Four Directional Teachings led by Archdeacon Val Kerr, creating space for reflection, learning, and meaningful connection. Filled with passion and hope for the future, these young leaders reminded us all of the incredible strength and spirit within the Church. Deep gratitude is extended to the ministry team in the Deanery of Thunder Bay for their warm hospitality throughout the weekend.

More reflections from the Youth Council will be shared soon, along with exciting news and initiatives ahead from YC! For more information about the Youth Council, or to learn how to better engage youth in your parish, please contact our Youth Engagement Coordinator, Sarah Bird: sbird@alongsidehope.org

The Wild Ride launch webinar

The long-awaited Wild Ride is back in 2026, and this year, we’re raising funds to provide solar panels at St. Luke’s Hospital in the West Bank. As a peer-to-peer fundraiser within the larger Light for St. Luke’s campaign, the Wild Ride is an opportunity to support the hospital in a hands-on way.

The Wild Ride fundraising goal is $60,000, enough to purchase and install 70 of the 407 solar panels. Each panel will cost roughly $865 and every gift will be matched by a generous donor, doubling the impact!
