The moment one gives close attention to anything,

even a blade of grass, it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself.

~ Henry Miller

As a photographer of life there is no instrument or artistic expression which holds such mystery. It’s amazing to me to be able to look upon a scene, a beautiful person, couple or family and feel the joyful emotion, and with my heart and mind’s eye be able to capture that image and bring it through the camera lens.

It’s the magic of alchemy and wonder. That one moment in time in which the image is created, all the senses, heart and spirt go into creating the memory which lasts for more than a lifetime. The photographic image holds such power, a tangible expression, that has the ability to bring you back to that moment of time in which it was created.

I am continually amazed even with the immediacy of the iPhones we now use; it is and will always remain an incredible mystery and one I love engaging with.

Immerse Wonderful Memories in Nature - just click the image above.

I’ve had the privilege of creating as a photographer of life for over 33 years and I’ve deepened my love as a creative through being present, paying attention, observing, together with my love of nature, and the wonder of life. I love to listen to what others are envisioning and even when I’m envisioning creations for myself I take time to ponder on the story I wish to create. From this space I pre-visualize ideas, yet I always leave the space between the notes to allow for the wonder of surprises. This has served me so well because it’s like I’m putting out a vision to the Divine and when the time comes to create the images, there are so many surprises which transpire that actually weave a richer tapestry of memory and story than I could ever have imagined.

As I reflect on my creative journey I know the biggest privilege to be present and pay attention was living in Sedona and the beautiful Verde Valley. I really immersed myself in the wonder of the natural world, meditated on the beautiful red earth, and created with others almost exclusively in areas I had the opportunity to explore and discover, which I could then share with them. I actually feel that in honoring the beautiful Earth and my Divine connection that I was gifted with wondrous surprises. I also know these surprises are available to anyone who invites the natural world into their lives.

I also have carried this invitation to wonder into other areas of creative expression and have had the privilege to delve into sculpture, which I’ve been engaged in for the last three years. I have always loved nature both in my photography and now in my sculptures of Nature Guardians. It really is about being present, paying attention and listening for that whisper on the wind - and creating from this space of wonder; again always allowing for the space between the notes to give me insight as to what comes next.

“The world is full of magic things,

patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”
