BECAUSE OF YOU . . .

Clients celebrate the

next chapter of their lives!

Lukas became part of the Milwaukee Center for Independence family when he was about a year old after spending all his young life in a hospital connected to life-saving equipment. More than 1,500 days later, Lukas, pictured above, graduated from our medical day care program, ready to take on the next chapter in his life’s journey, healthy and happy!

Cindy, pictured below with her therapist, battled depression and a lack of self-confidence since she was a teen-ager, but always had a dream to be a special education teacher. She just needed help to take that big step toward her goal. Working with her psychotherapist from MCFI’s Behavioral Health Services program, Cindy received the confidence and support she needed to finish her associate degree and is now enrolled in college this semester to work toward completing the next chapter of her journey and become a teacher!

Please watch this video to see how Lukas and Cindy have been helped through MCFI!

Exceptional Support

MCFI’s medical day care program is Wisconsin’s only Medicaid certified medical day care for children, newborn to age 21, with complex and fragile medical conditions or developmental disabilities often due to prematurity, traumatic brain injury, and other circumstances. A team of nurses, teachers and therapists support the children to improve medical conditions, cognitive functioning, and communication.

Our Behavioral Health Services is one of the largest providers of mental health and substance use disorders treatment in Milwaukee County and continues to expand services which positively impact the community.

MCFI continues to drive the delivery of quality throughout all our broad spectrum of services around trauma informed practices and the implementation of the Science of Hope, supporting children and adults to gain more independence and overall quality of life.

Your Investment Makes a Difference

MCFI is proud of our ability to respond to new and emerging community needs. However, there continues to be a gap in funding for many of the programs that MCFI provides to the community. Your gift is an investment in the lives of people like Lukas and Cindy. Thank you for supporting our mission to partner with people of all abilities to advance their total health!

We thank our volunteer gardeners!

CFI is grateful to Peg Heuer, from Wells Fargo, and Brian Butzine, from Allspring Global Investments, who spent time in our raised bed gardens, Nov. 3, prepping them for next year’s growing season. Thank you both!

Thank you to our donors!

Recently, we received gifts from these partners:

  • $2,500 from the Marjorie L. Christiansen Foundation for our fifth commercial production kitchen at 27th and Wells as part of the Near West Side Partner's Concordia 27 initiative. This transformative and vibrant community initiative addresses the neighborhood inequities of housing insecurity, health disparities, unemployment, transportation access, trauma, and food insecurity.

We thank all of our donors for their generosity. If you are interested in making a contribution, please visit the donor page on our website.
