Greetings!

We are living through the greatest church experiment in 500 years. Like the Reformation, this experiment is taking the experiences of God, church, and worship and handing them back over to the language of the people. In the early days of the pandemic, we planted a new congregation in that nascent language - Church at Home: a worshipping community gathered entirely online. It continues to grow and thrive.

This year, our stewardship and pledge campaign begins with Advent underfoot and the prophets’ urging to prepare the way of the Lord, to make God’s paths straight. One doesn’t need an MBA to appreciate this is a not-in-the-least-straightforward time for St. Clement’s to be developing our 2021 budget! But this much is clear: our budget is not a spending plan but an investment document - a topographical map of a place we’ve not yet been to but have heard stories about. To reach the place God is calling us to go, we must become the kind of people God is calling us to be.

I invite you to join my family and me in making an investment in the people of God and the places to which God is calling us in 2021 and beyond. In particular, I invite you to consider two opportunities:

  • Increase your pledge by 5%
  • Help us reach our target goal of 75% of gifts via Pre-Authorized Giving (PAG) or credit card
Our full stewardship package is available on our website and contains resources to aid your prayerful discernment. The entire pledge process can be completed online in just a few minutes and, in light of the pandemic and the changing ways in which people give, we are encouraging online pledges as possible. If you’d like a paper packet mailed to you, don’t hesitate to contact Julianna Buck in the office, at [email protected] or (416) 483-6664 x224.

However you give, I am truly grateful for your ongoing generosity and support. Thank you!

Yours truly in Christ,
The Rev. Andrew Federle
Rector, St. Clement’s Church, Toronto
