How Many People Does It Take To Operate A Thriving Community Health Campus?

Hello James,

A highlight of my entire year occurred this past Tuesday as approx. 60 donors, volunteers, and supporters of Deep River & District Health gathered together for a social Appreciation Café.

The atmosphere at this event was similar to a family reunion, with old friends greeting each other and plenty of laughs.

I also witnessed two next-door neighbours meet each other for the first time!

One of the most rewarding moments for me was describing to attendees that the roughly 160 paid staff members at DRDH are only a small fraction of the actual number of people required to successfully operate our health campus.

Consider this:

* The Board of Directors for both DRDH and the Foundation, plus the DRDH Auxiliary Executive (all dedicated volunteers who devote significant time and energy)

* The 1,420+ donors to DRDH Foundation in the last 5 years

* The 1,000s of customers for our past 50/50 and Catch The Ace events

* The 1,000s of customers for the Auxiliary Gift Shop and Whistle Stop

* The 200+ Auxiliary members

* The 100+ volunteers for the Foundation

All told, our health campus exists the way it does today because of the work of THOUSANDS of people.

Please know that you are counted among the thousands (highly likely if you are receiving this) and we held the event on Nov 28th in your honour too.

Thank you!

I look forward to hosting a similar event for #GivingTuesday next year.

Sincerely,

James Thompson

Ventilator Purchased By Circle of Giving Members

A $26,000 ventilator was purchased for Deep River and District Health by the Circle of Giving (our monthly donation club) and it arrived in November!

This crucial piece of medical equipment comes as a much-needed replacement for the previous model, which had exceeded its operational lifespan.

A ventilator provides critical support for patients who face challenges with their ability to breathe due to severe medical conditions.

Members of the Circle of Giving have directly influenced DRDH's capacity to ensure these patients receive the best possible care when they need it most.

Clinical staff completed training on the equipment this month (photo below) and it is now in-use at DRDH.

Tim Hortons Holiday Smile Cookie Success

In the inaugural year of Tim Hortons Holiday Smile Cookie campaign, we were selected as the local charitable recipient for Deep River.

Thanks to everyone who purchased a cookie during the campaign week.

We are also grateful to those who volunteered to decorate and buy in bulk.

We don't know the final tally yet but we will share the number soon.
