Preaching Text: John 2:13-25


Jesus makes an entrance! For those still feeling the effects of that delicious wedding wine, the next episode may feel abrupt or dramatic. I imagine the equivalent of turning the lights on at the end of a frat party. Jesus goes into the temple and disrupts the commerce of the place, throwing over coin bowls and driving out animals. When the temple leaders ask for a reason, Jesus makes an even bolder proclamation. Let's explore together this weekend.

Holy God, we trust that the actions of Jesus reveal Your love for the world. Open our hearts and minds to receive. In Jesus' name, Amen.

• Your sanctuary is a place of prayer, praise, and healing. Grant wholeness and restoration to all who need it.
• Our legacy is with all those who, throughout the ages, saw injustice and didn’t rest. Join us with them and give us also their zeal and love for you.

With confidence in your mercy, we lift these prayers and those of our hearts into your care, through Jesus Christ our light and our life. Amen.
