Cause For Hope Kicks off Season of Thanksgiving
|
Founders, friends and family came together on November 18 for a most successful Annual Event to support gastric cancer research. The entire evening was a warm and joyous affair as attendees embraced the "Cause For Hope" theme - and the vision of a future without this dreaded disease.
The dinner and auction evening raised more than $100,000 for the Foundation's research programs. Board Chair Wayne Feinstein shares his appreciation here.

GCF Research Scholar Preparing to Publish
|
Our first Research Scholar, Mohamad El-Zaatari, PhD, at the University of Michigan Medical School is preparing to publish two papers that argue for the involvement of autoimmunity as an early trigger for carcinogenesis. Dr. El-Zaatari proposes mechanisms on how to manipulate the autoimmune reaction involved in carcinogenesis and propose novel therapeutic strategies in battling this disease. We'll keep you posted on his expanded research. Read more about the AGA-Gastric Cancer Foundation Research Scholar Award here. |
New Guidelines Released for HER2
|
New guidelines for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) testing in advanced gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma (GEA) have been released! HER2 is the only marker used to guide treatment choice in advanced GEA, and it may help identify patients who could benefit from targeted therapy with the anti-HER2 monoclonal antibody, trastuzumab. We want to thank everyone in the Gastric Cancer Foundation family for helping advance our mission to promote research for a cure.
In this season of sharing, there are many ways to give. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with gastric cancer, please enroll in the Gastric Cancer Registry. By sharing your medical history and tissue samples, you will enable scientists to continue their urgent work to find a cure.
You can also support our mission to find better treatments and ultimately a cure for this disease by making a generous year-end tax-deductible donation.
Please join with us, in our continued "Cause for Hope." We are grateful for your support. |
