Giving Thanks

Join us Wednesday October 22, 2025

This Thanksgiving weekend, we hope that you are finding much to be thankful for.

We are so thankful to live and work in a community like ours here in the Headwaters region. The dedicated volunteers, local heroes, community champions, organizations, clubs, neighbour groups, carers, service providers, businesses, government staff and elected representatives who work together to make life better are what truly makes communities thrive across Dufferin County and Caledon. The work is never done, but it is important to take a moment to pause, recognize and celebrate the people and places that contribute to the excellent quality of life that we enjoy here.

We hope that you will join us next week as we do just that - pause, recognize and celebrate some of those people, together and in person! HCIA's Annual Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 in two sessions, at 11am and 7pm. Our activities will be nested within the Volunteer Fair which is happening from 10am-1pm and 6pm-9pm. Drop in any time, and bring a friend! To catch our announcements and talk to our Leadership Council and program leads, aim for the middle hour of each session, 11am or 7pm.

  • Come to network with volunteers, carers, local community organizations, service providers and fellow community connectors.
  • Learn how HCIA has been building belonging through our projects and partnerships, where we're headed from here, and how you can join your neighbours in shaping a thriving community.
  • Help shape our plans for a year of election engagement leading up to next year's municipal election on October 26, 2026, and talk to us about how you can get involved.

DID YOU KNOW?

The next municipal election is just one year away. Have you ever considered running for council to represent your community and help make life better? It's not too soon to prepare.

The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) hosts events and has lots of resources available as part of their Healthy Democracy Project. They are hosting their 2nd Annual Healthy Democracy Forum October 18 and 19 in Toronto. You can also access the presentations from their Rural Democracy Forum held in June.

Starting November 26, they are also running two leadership series for prospective candidates called Healthy Democracy Leadership series: Stronger Leaders, Stronger Communities.

Stay tuned for more activities throughout the year.
